Some quick initial thoughts, based on about 3 hours of playtime. The exact same thing I posted at BCG, in case some of you have read that already...
Edit: My specs, just for a heads up. AMD 2400+ XP, 1 gig RAM, ATI 9800 Pro. Game chose low detail for me. It looks ok and runs ok until I get 4 or 5 characters on the screen, at which point it lags pretty bad. But still not bad considering it's more or less the minimum requirements
The entire game smells of xbox. Great if you like giant interfaces, I guess.
Things that are dumb:
When I enter a bar, the AI of every single patron decided it would be a good idea to greet me. All 8 of them get out of their seats, and crowd me into a corner. I thought I was getting mugged.
After the mob said hello, one by one, I went and took a seat at the bar. I use the new drag/pickup key to slide a glass over to me. The patrons, most who have sat back down with their backs turned to me, start screaming 'THIEF!' the second I touch it. And, of course, they all stand up and run over to crowd around me again. I take the opportunity to grab the plate the glasses are sitting on and send them flying around the room (all the while being called a thief) and then I stand up, push my way through the crowd, and leave.
To get a feel for the AI, I decided to stalk one for a couple days. We spent most of that two days standing still outside in the rain.
Some arena hopefulls were sparring at 3 in the morning. They won't chat with me, so I turn around to leave. The sparring sounds stop, so I turn around. They're gone. Turns out they've teleported to their bedrolls and fell asleep in less than a second. Pretty impressive.
The swords use the same skill as my daggers? pffft.
I don't know what it's like on higher resolutions, but at 640x480, the inventory screen displays around 5 items on my screen at once. Real helpful.
There was some other stuff, but I totally forget what. No doubt I'll remember the next time I play.
Things I like:
Speechcraft. Lockpicking.
Picking up used arrows.
Casting spells in combat.
Breaking into a place, and having the owner notice you when you accidentially knock over a rack of swords.
