Planetside Reserves

I was flicking around some websites yesterday and found this: Planetside Reserves it's basically a trial account that you can get, lasting a year, that allows you to experience the game (presumably most of the full version) until you reach Battlerank 6, for free. I know it's old, but if anyone else is interested it might be worth a little try, plus, for anyone that has played it before, if they can tell some tales as to if it's worth investing some time in.

The application this links to is a 10meg installer, that then allows you to download the full 4gig client to your free account, which could take a few hours or a few days depending on the connection you get (mine was a bit dodgy, so i'm going to leave it overnight sometime).

Ive played the game its very good but you really need to have mates to play so if people start playing ill play with ya. It can be dull running about yourself

Does the download include the expansions too?

I played Planetside when it first came out so I have an old/expired Planetside account. I wonder if that would interfere with playing as a Reservist?

Vanu kicks ass!!! But I must admit, their BFRs do suck, unless you like sniping, one thing I like is the Adv. bomber you get, I loved that...

Quite alot of people still play this, but rumors are going around theres a new planestide in the works, I'd suggest actually buying the game (only a fiver) and you get a month free with it. One thing I also must admit, is once BFRs came out, it came a little unfair to everyone that didn't have Core Combat.

I have a CR5 character on NC Werner except its ?7 a month to get him back on line. Don't think i could stand being without my global talk command if i played planetside again

I absolutely LOVED this game when it was at its peak. but they fucked it up BIG STYLE with the release of Core Combat... (i.e. the big robots)... they were WAY overpowered.

But my best gaming memories are of some truly Epic battles I have had in Planetside. I could write a whole essay on my best times in that game. If that rumour about the new Planetside is true... then that is one game I will be getting on its release date.

Most people prefer heavy tanks now, to BFRs, people figured how to kill BFRs very VERY fast, I mean, you get in one, take it to battle, and before you even get there, you have reavers and mosquitos raping you from all sides, and when you actually get there, EVERYONE fires on you, littleraly everyone on the enemy side. That way the BFR's shield depletes, then before you know it... BOOM! BFRs got their shield made weaker and their actual armour stronger, so now theyre much easier to kill.

I'm still waiting for Amazon to deliver a new copy of Core Combat because my old account got deleted due to excessive inactivity, and my Core Combat key is binded to that account. BUT! They sent me an email a few days ago saying it would be a further 2-3 weeks before they could ship it, and just yesterday, I got another email saying it would be another 10weeks before they can ship it!

Um... if you simply log into you account the patcher should realise you have CC on your account and then download all files that you need... MMO games are good like that

Now, I may be wrong, but when I was playing I had access to vehicles like the Flail, which is Core Combat, and all of the ancient tech weapons I was qualified for. When I start up the launcher, it also says that I have '1 Expansion Installed', which could possibly mean Core Combat.

Where did you have access to them? Sure you can see them, and gun for the CC vehicles, but it doesn't mean you can actually get them.

@ Bloke. My old account got stolen, and having CC installed makes no difference, the only thing CC does, is tells the game, what you can newly access, hence why you can play on an account that has a CC key bound to it, without having actually installed CC on that computer. Effectivly, the only reason I bought CC on disk, and not just bought a CD key, is to save bandwidth.

Oooh yeah, one of the best ways to get command experiants if you don't like managing a squad, is to just be inside a complex or its courtyard from when it gets hacked, to when it becomes your factions. If you die, you lose the chance to get that XP. ( i think )

Why can't I escape from twats in MAX armour? They ruin the game for little untrained me!

Haxed my way to advanced medic to save peeps and be useful, which was cool when there was about 15 people defending a stairwell and I could hear explosions in the distance. Then I missed my Galaxy ride and got bored running to the next point and getting gunned down by turrets .
