PS3 or Xbox 360 - which should I buy?

Note to Hotstuff:

Buy when a game that catches your eye and during a sale. I was an idiot and went for it at on release day and, at the time, VF5 was the only decent game out on release (other than oblivion).

I suggest getting one before the rush comes when FFXIII and FFXIII Versus gets near (both titles are now confirmed as PS3 exclusive)

i dont see why anyone would want a PS3...only good things about the PS series is the metal gear solid and the GTA games imo, Final Fantasy bores me big time..its too " lol i shall stand here drinking this potion then have you hit me with a large stick, then after you have finished hitting me, i shall hit you back!!"

I strongly disagree. I believe there are a few more decent games out there to buy for the PS3, not to mention all the other reasons Hotstuff stated as to why he has chosen to buy a PS3.

Reviving this briefly, Eurogamer have a news snippet that indicates that the X360 failure rate may be as high as 16 percent, compared to a rate of 3% for PS3 or Wii units.

However...

Of the different hardware variations of the Xbox 360, Abernethy stated that of the associated problems he "would estimate most if not all were the original motherboard".

So maybe just more alarmist talk?

I would hope so...

I know that the failure rate has decreased dramatically as least as far as I have heard, and it only seems to be the initial adopters who are being caught out.

Ive been banned while this thread was goin on but ive been checking on it now nd then seeing how it develped...
In my opinion PS3 is the way to go the things people are doing with them are mint and its gona offer more than the 360 ever could
my friend was such a fool he got a 360 after all the stuff i said to him...
360 £280 and he need a wireless adapter +£60 £330 + £40 online subscription £370 cheaper to get a ps3 £350 or less

youve probebly already got one of ther consoles by now and i aint checked all the other posts yet but you know what i think you should get, in the next few months the best ps3 games are to come MGS4, Killzone etc it can only get better

XBox Live actually has some good games to play on it though. Now! And not the promise of "it will be a good console... at some point...". And you play a monthly subscription to WoW to maintain their servers, XBox Live Gold Membership is pretty much that. Only a lot cheaper £35/year is a lot less than £8/month or whatever most MMORPGs are. And Live gets new features just like MMOs do.

Note: This isn't WoW bashing, as I just realised that AcidK does actually play it. It's more using WoW as an example, as the payment for both services reflects service maintenance, etc.

The problem with the initial xbox360 motherboard was to do with its power rating and adaptor. The way to tell is the old, RROD rife adaptor says 203W on it. The newer revised mainboard has 175W written on it.

Yeah I picked the PS3 but it aint ready to buy. See my thread on this cook and see what you think.

Not amaizing stuff yet but no doubt these mods and things will get better the psp ones cirtainly did

and i love the fact the ps3 games are region free ive had Time Crisis 4 since november from canada its not out here till March 28th

one of my house mates has a PS3 and Vibs has a xbox, I know the PS3 will eventually have games for it, but I've had way more fun on the xbox than the PS3. Also why would you want to stream crysis to a ps3. Dedication for doing it but seems a bit pointless to me.

I'd never buy a console for the promise that there might be good games for it in the future, especially at that price tag. I like the fact that the PS3 is region free but at the mo tis distinctly meh.

Yea nanor i do enjoy it cos i play with all ma m8s from school and things.

Tho i would like to have a better PC tho im missin out on some mint RTS games like World in Conflict and C&C

But im glad to here ther now making World in Conflict for ps3 and also making Red Alert 3 for PS3 as well as xbox
Lets hope they will let you use mouse and keyboards, cos controllers are poo for RTS games
