Well. I think ill definately go down the monk road as a healer. What would be a good secondary class to help with that?

Hmmmmm, probably elementalist. Purely because the elementalist can boost their max MP level, which would certainly come in handy for more serious scuffles. Monk/Mesmer, like you said, is another popular choice I've seen, and sometime you see the odd Monk/Necro. Monk/Rangers are a rarity, though, but maybe you could lead a class revolution!

only Ele primarys can do that as energy storage is only avaliable to them plus all their healing spells are self heals so they're much better as a damage dealer, personally i always go either Mo\N or MO\Me, the Necro blood magic gives more healing and the Mesmer allows you to hex foes for health regen

if Ting is going to go a monk then i guess i'll have to go either a MM necro or Warrior unless Tets fancies going one as 600\Smite monks are not great till much later on, though i have to say i'm not really a fan of playing either MM or W

Out of curiosity, does one need to get the original + all expansions to be of any use in the game, or not?

Well, at the moment I only have the Vanilla Version.

Ok. So what have we got so far, and what sort of character would be helpful to round out the team?

Should we be trying to hit post-searing before the event, or just start from the start?

I'm not sure, it kind of depends on where Tingham and ya good self are. If either of you two haven't made your chars yet, then I'd be happy to start at pre-searing (I've been meaning to bin my elementalist for a while now, not having much fun with him, and try something else. Like a necro!) with a new character. Plus, you might need a little help with the locations of second and third skill-giving NPCs if you haven't played before.

How does that fit with yourself, fist? You could bum around post-searing ascalon if you want, til we're finished, or make another new char and join us.
