Skyrim Anyone?

That's who I would have suggested, though Amazon has turned out to be cheaper for me than them. :p

Can't wait for it to arrive, though I'm gonna have to be good and not play it as much as I want to. :(

maybe somewhere like Direct2Drive?

D2D was running it at about £5 higher than Steam, which surprised me; I've heard of them usually matching or beating Steam for launch-day prices.

Aymasia and I got it from ShopTo; Amazon was slightly cheaper, but ShopTo had free First Class delivery. I think both of them came with the map, though... and the map is gorgeous. Not one of those crappy glossy ones, it feels like it's a proper map. Bethesda <3

I can't find it on Steam, for some reason.
So how do people feel about this game? I hear some bad things about the texture quality, especially up-close...? Was considering buying it before.

It's amazing - everything good about Oblivion with some new good stuff too and some stop-gap fixes to the old boring things!
For example dialogue now doesnt introduce tunnel vision and freeze the world - NPCs still move around, in fact you can be killed in conversation if already fighting.
Completely class-less now - before you had to pick a sign and either choose or build a class which determined which skills level you up, now everything levels you up and you can change your sign by visiting shrines.
Finally - dual-wielding is awesome, specially destruction spells... i've been described as a Flame Tower :D

i will never forget the time i saved a guy from some bandits, only to be killed during his unskippable "ty m8" dialogue by a sodding mudcrab.

ang: if you play maxed out on a PC the quality of the graphics will be very pleasing - it's not crysis-level stuff, but if you are looking for that in a bethesda game you are doing it wrong.

Most memorable Skyrim moment so far through a measly six hours of play (hey, I was away this weekend) was having an entire town chase me across half the map for killing a chicken.

Needless to say, I love the game.

I have gotten my hands on this and I can concur, it is awesome! I must say the controls are a blatant console port and I do not like that one bit, but I guess the quality of gameplay outweights my hatred for having to 4button everything.

i have to ask, why do you think this? i have heard a couple people say it, but they have never actually gone into any detail as to what they mean by it. to me it feels like they took oblivion's controls and improved on them.

Well, you control EVERYTHING with the 4-direction menus. That's a console thing and could have been done way better for pc. I'm off to a concert now so I can't elaborate further, but it still irks me.

Yeah, the menu and UI is clearly console-centric, the mouse can't be used for quite a few things, and it's easier to scroll through things with the keyboard.

The skills menu is a clear example; while it's very pretty, it's difficult to navigate by mouse and is blown up to a size that (to me) was made to be seen clearly from one's couch rather than sat at a PC.

There are already modders working on rebuilding the UI entirely for the PC, I just wish that Bethesda had done that themselves.

My best moment so far has to have been getting 100 smithing and using all of those dragon bones and scales to forge my huscarl a full suit of Dragonplate armour.

like getting to the map (M), opening the inventory (I), opening the quest log (J), and everything else right? personally, i like that they included a way to get to those menus without memorising the shortcut to each (not that i use it though).

xar: as for the skills menu being unusable with a mouse, i have to disagree completely - i haven't used anything BUT a mouse for the skill menu. clicking directly on the skill i want to go to is much easier (not to mention faster) than moving 1 by 1 through the skills with arrow keys

Love the game and reading the comments, glad I got it for the X box.

My only problem is I keep getting so far and then just get the urge to start again with a different build. Currently got an Orc with a Sledgehammer which seems to suit me down to the ground.

Right after the first dragon fight I sold all the stuff and immediately got attacked by another (only level 5!). Shat myself, but somehow thanks to my companion, a lot of potions and of course my big dockoff hammer managed to kill the beast. Moments like that just take your breath away.

Why restart? There is no level cap, and as it is classless you can get each of the 18 skills to rank 100, and all 260 or so of the perks!
