Target Dummies

Right, with the progression to 25-mans around the corner i will be wanting to see people at the top of their game. Over the next two weeks or so i will be taking people one at a time to the target dummies in the major cities to see your DPS. If your DPS isn't up to scratch i will work with you to bring it up, be it through rotations/priorites/gearing/gemming/enchanting i WILL get you doing the most DPS you can as your class/spec.

I will be taking everyone to the dummies, no exceptions. At first i will wait on people to contact me to get this out of the way, if i notice a lack of interest or attendance i will be chasing up and eventually making mandatory sessions for this. I will be keeping track of those who have attended so get it out of the way wheilst you can.

DPS is a competition and in the spirit of this i will be handing out a prize to the players that are most devoted to improving their DPS with me.

Hey, :)

Meh, target dummies are good for putting the overheal counter on overdrive! :p

On a more serious note, yeay, kudos for that.

Cheers,
J.

Hai! I volunteer! Well since im healing mostly in the Haven raids on my druid my official progress char is my shaman.. She is enhance. Huung does 1k more bloody damage than me and I want that too *grr* I usually end up around 2,5 to 3 k dps when i look at fights with Skada (dps meters)

But yeah, I should swap my druid to the progression char.. So I dont mind waiting till you get the others done first :)

How to enh shaman 101:
Go here
Get the addons mentioned. Done. :p

To make that slightly more useful; the most important addon to me as an enh shaman is ShockAndAwe. As a great rogue once said, "That's awesome - your class is just a quick-time event!".
Basically it shows you, very clearly, the charges on maelstrom, and the next priority for top DPS. Just follow it and you'll always be doing your highest DPS. Now we have no mana problems due to Shamanistic Rage being insanely useful, magma totems can and should be used on single target fights as well as trash, as they're higher DPS than searing. Make sure to use CDs like wolves as often as you can, and don't forget to pop Blood Fury as an Orc (I like to pop it just before Shamanistic Fury if I need it and it's off CD, for that extra boost to the mana regen).

For ALOT of classes: Get Rawr.
I used to use this beauty at 70 for druid tanking, but it includes so many more classes now. It's a gear guide, but based on your own personal gear (includes ideal gemmings also). You can set which buffs you expect to have and check what gear is upgrades and see the actual DPS/healing/tanking difference it would make.

I have it running during raids, and it's only a quick flick to it to check whether gear is an upgrade or not (usually rings and trinkets, as they're tricky to manage just by looking at them, especially with melee trinkets now giving one main stat + some stacking or proccing AP bonus).

Whilst I'm on a roll, another thing for all classes is to KEYBIND. Once again it's one of the most important things you can do. There's very few fights in which you will be stationary the whole time, and being a clicker is just an easy way of getting killed in any fight where reactions play a part. I admit, I do occasionally click, but only to lay out totems, or replace them, as that's not something I need to frequently do. If you're concentrating on where your mouse is you aren't looking at your character, or the fire which is likely under you, which sees too many people not moving fast enough, and causing undue stress on the raid. So please, set keybindings, and don't forget you can hold down both the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously to move forward (it's actually my main method of movement); allowing you to use the mouse purely for movement and watching around yourself to stay aware. In case any of you are interested, my main keys on all my characters are always; 2,3,4,q,e,r,f,v,b and occasionally t and y (ohshit buttons and bandages usually go on those two). I also bind ctrl+q, ctrl+tab, ctrl+shift, ctrl+e to useful CDs, like Spirit Wolves, Blood Fury, Purge, Bloodlust etc.
Learn these keybindings inside out and you'll find your life alot easier.

Awaiting the new rig. Will be sent today off today by DHL Delivery service.
Once I get back online, I will update my DPS spec on Fae-Fae.
My current Shadow spec is pre-3.2. So it is a tad outdated, at the moment.

Just to make people aware, i expect to see 3k DPS from every raider Self Buffed. This is easily otainable from every class using a mix of badge loot and heroic drops, so no excuses.

roflmao. I was unable to break 3k in full T7.5 gear and only got there recently.

You were doing 3k before Ulduar, I'm sure of it...

And every DPS spec is capable of over 3k in Naxx10/25 gear, as far as I know.

Well when you consider most, if not all classes can get gear equivalent to, and better than naxx without even touching a raids, 3k dps should be attainable [though potentially difficult if relying purely on self buffs].

When you consider that if you farm heroics, with conquest badges you can get the following item level 226 items:

Head
Neck
Chest
Belt
Gloves
Legs
idol/sigil/totem/libram

Then for most classes ToC 5 man has more than enough for them inluding i200 trinkets on normal and i219 weapons on heroic for pretty much every class/spec.

What few slots you cannot fill with emblems or from ToC im pretty sure you can find from heroics.

In addition to all this doing the daily heroics give emblems of triumph, so just doing those and the occasional VoA you can get a piece of T9 i232 in under 2 weeks.

Ultimately, if you look at my hunter, Zhinrak, 90% of all the gear he is wearing was attained within a week of hitting lv80, and what few items i have gotten from Raids on him, i either had ToC epics there prior to, or was aiming to get and i managed to reach around 3k dps easily.

If i can reach that level of damage in a week, then there is no reason why most our long term raiders shouldnt be there already. Though i do agree 3k might be a bit much. i personalyl would atleast like to see 2800 on the dummies from most people

New conquest gear being tier 8.5 Equiv and ToTC now offering moar imba gear.... Such are gear level boosts. therefore 3k is Easy. Plus rogue is one of the worst for self buffed DMG.

True, but we were talking training dummies. Each time I get a major item upgrade I do a stinch or three at the dummies to see what I can get out of it. And since
rogue is one of the worst for self buffed DMG.
you would be surprised how underwhelming the results were in most cases.
Because of that, although I agree that some form of benchmark should be set and all raiders should try to reach it, don't overestimate the usefulness of training dummies. They can only serve for comparing different sets of gear or maybe characters of the same class and spec. All the classes and in some cases even different specs of the same class scale differently with raid buffs.

Trust me i'm not overestimating the usefulness i know what people are doing in raids DPS wise and what they should be doing. If they are hitting over 3k on the dummies i'm happy with their DPS and nothing else, if they are in a raid and they aren't doing the Damage Done they should be doing i'll work out why. If they are dying to stupid things like "Deep Breath" i will be working on awareness. This is just the first stage of training.

Benchmarks are set, people have been coming to me, certain people need work and after i'm done with the DPS i'll be moving onto the healers/tanks.

Strangely, I seem to be unable to get my Ret DPS above 2.5k on the boss dummy in Orgri. I'm following the advice that was linked and am in decent enough gear (Including some conquest stuff). This has a low priority, but has anyone got an idea for me upping my DPS? I wasn't using cooldowns, buff food or haste pots, and only my own buffs (including flask of the North).
