Target Dummies

Strangely, I seem to be unable to get my Ret DPS above 2.5k on the boss dummy in Orgri. I'm following the advice that was linked and am in decent enough gear (Including some conquest stuff). This has a low priority, but has anyone got an idea for me upping my DPS? I wasn't using cooldowns, buff food or haste pots, and only my own buffs (including flask of the North).

Self-buffed and with no cooldowns on a dummy, 2.5k is pretty decent on a dummy. Make sure you're standing behind the dummy to avoid parries (yes, dummies parry from the front), and make sure you obey the clash rotation (the order you do stuff in if multiple abilities come off cooldown at the same time):

HoW > CS > Judge > DS > Consec > Exo > Holy Wrath (if target is Undead/Demon and you have mana to burn)

Ret scales a hell of a lot with raid buffs, so don't expect the dummy numbers to be what you'll have in a raid; because SoCorr triple-dips on strength, our damage goes mental as soon as we start getting Kings, Gift, Horn of Winter/SoE totem, and other such str/ap buffs. Can't remember for sure, but I remember my dummy DPS being piss-poor compared to raid DPS.

Even so, I hit 2.6k dps with Razaak less than 20 hours played at level 80, and still in quest/dungeon blues and the odd crafted and heroic epic. I'm nowhere near the melee hit cap yet, let alone the poison cap, and not yet expertise capped.

Rogues scale more than any other class with raid buffs (we have NO self buffs at all) so 3k should be easily achievable in i200 epics, and that's not even starting on the i226 and i245 badge gear that can now be had.

I've only recently started doing some reting but on a dummy I can get 3.8 self buffed while still making the odd mistake so I wouldn't worry about that too much or it'll stop being fun.

I would check your spec. Make sure it's the same as mine or Ari's (They are the same) and there is pretty conclusive proof that this is the best PvE spec and there are quite a few things you can miss that make a big difference.

I've just checked my spec. The only things that are different are the following:

No Divinity/Stoicism/Guardian's favor/SoComm (should really get that one for AoE fights)

Do have Deflection/Vindication.

And I need to get myself a Glyph of Sense Undead. So I think that'll be a respec soon anyway for the Command.

Are you sure you can't put more out? I did 2.3K and have almost the same spec, but your dps gear is much better than mine :O ( I use healing gear with healing gems and enchants ). If you want we can try and find the best rotation ect ect together? ( cause I think I don't use th right rotation either (A) )

Doesn't the length of time you are attacking the target dummy have an affect on the overall DPS? For example, spells and such making critical hits more often after 10 seconds or so just down to sheer chance?

I had a nice long session on the dummy last night with my DK (DW Frost DPS spec)...

Started off at around 2.6k, which seemed reasonable for an offspec. Kept going, fine tuned the rotation... ended up just over 3.1k.

That's self buffed only (HoW) and no food, flasks or potions. DKs scale pretty well with raid buffs, so I might just have to see what I can do when I'm not needed as a healer

So there, if the tank can hit 3k on a dummy, so can you. Man up, bitches

Went on and on 'til my mana was gone.

Not sure why it was so low.
Going to request that I get a second person with with meter come with me for verfication on this.

I generally record the DPS of a 3 minute period, as most DPS Cd's are 3-minutes or less, so all the Cd's can be used at least once.

I'll try a run with Wings in it for a 3min. I'll see what happens.

This is "self-buffed" in that I have totems out, and no cheeky spirit buff

Taken over almost 3 mins, as you can see by the wolves coming off CD.

I'm sure your dups will go skyrocket with the spirit buff.
