Well, spotted a little gem of info on slashdot today; TF2 will have map randomisation! Which is a nice idea, to me at least, meaning that multiplayer may take more then just memorizing the map layout and sniper points! A little bit of yay.

And yes, I didn't bump dead threads, which is why this is a new one.

Enjoy!

There was a whole article on that in PCG this month, at last a counter to sniper-whores

I don't think that this is a counter at all, it rather is a pro. You can never be sure where the snipers have placed their tents and started camping while in TFC you knew which good sniperpositions you had to watch out for :)

Well here's some info that just goes to show how much Valve care about us consumers:

If you want to buy Episode 2/Portal/TF2, you'll have to buy a copy of HL2 and Episode 1 in the "Orange Box". Their argument is that you can sell the HL2/Episode 1 discs if you've already got them....yeah, right. How much is it going to be worth when there are millions of other unwanted copies floating around....

Now's my chance...

EA > Sierra! Ha! Give me ingame ads anyday over having to buy an updated version to play the expansions.

Now, that's just a plain old lie, I'm afraid.

IGN says that there are 2 favours, black and orange:

The Black Box is only available on PC and includes Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2. It retails for $39.99.

The Orange Box is available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and includes Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episodes One and Two, Portal and Team Fortress. It retails for a modest $59.99.

In other words, The Black Box edition is for PC gamers who already have Half-Life 2 and it's first Episode. The Orange Box is meant for everyone else, so that they can experience the full breadth of the Half-Life 2 saga.

I'll personally be getting the black box copy, as I already have episode 1 :)

Ya, steam. That other piece of user friendly software.

I've never had a problem with Steam, though I've only used it in the past two or so years. I know it had many more issues way back but recently all seems good on Steam... is the bad press all historical, now?

It's partly historical, but i've had my fair share of problems with it. You get spammed with advertisements every time you want a quiet game of CS:S, it needs constantly updated, it randomly kicks you off servers, it's a miracle if you can get it all set up and running in the first place, it sucks, IT SUCKS, the colour scheme is rubbish, the loading bars are meaningless, the friends page has never worked for me ever, I'm put off installing HL2 because it takes HOURS to load it on steam, even though I play the same game type every time I log on the server list requires me to input the filter parameters every time, the server list never updates properly and it's a shambolic example of an anti-piracy system. Apart from that it's fine.

...Although of course IGN also says there's only one.

You choose which source to trust, IGN 5 months ago or IGN 4 days ago... :P
