I'll third this one. We're not playing a beta. We're playing a late release candidate. They're patching this just the way they patch CS Source or whatever... small and regular but nothing major.

Yeah Ronin is right, if you check the update history, it was patched yesterday with a few bug fixes. This is likely to conitinue every few days.

Just played this game last night for a couple of hours since the BF2142 clan match was cancelled - have to say I am very impressed with it.

I never really played the original TF game on the HL1 engine, so TF2 is a novelty, new concept to me. I love the 'toy story' like graphics and the motion blur effects.

The concept is really strange, like 9 or 10 different totally different classes. If it was real life none of them would probably get on or chose to be friends - very wierd!

This is of course what makes the game interesting, it didn't take me long to find out what characters I was most effective with and the stats table at the end of each map helps chart your own progress.

Great game, looking forward to playing with more experienced THN people to learn more about it.

Each class definetly has a different role in the game. It's making sure you work that role that defines a good player.

E.g. an engineer who sets a good defence in one area rather than trying to cover the whole map.

Or as a heavy realising the sentry guns is going to tear you a new one if its engineer backed up and that a soldier or spy can take it down more efficiently.

Where before grenades meant any class could get past them its definetly more about the right class for the job.

I love TF2 to bits, but i dislike the sentry guns quite passionately, ok they are useful to leave to defend somet, but they are so annoying. I don't mind being out gunned by another person thats fine its easy to get revenge on the individual and feel satisfied but the sentries are just rubbish.

Just go Soldier Bob. They are the most effective class at taking them out. Plus you get points for it too.

They become just a slight distraction then :D

yeah but when u walk round a corner and can't move cos the thing is pinning you then u r dead u might as well go have a wank for all the good it will do you. They annoy me cos its the only bit of the game that i don't think should be there.

Turrets go down with a short burst from the flamethrower, the trick is getting in range but once there usually fire beats puny machine thing. Having said that i dont thing taking out turrets is the pyros gig. While they dont irk me so much i do think the turret with the missiles is a bit jammy considering one shot with those missile and all chars except maybe the heavy explode in a red rain shower.

Rocket combined with the gatling gun on the side means your fookered anyway even as a heavy, you can only just survive it with a medic on your ass :(
