Teamspeak bans

I have also had these German people come in to channels that I have been in. They usually shout lots of German things with "Macca" or whatever thrown in. I can't really do anything, so I would suggest that anybody in the same position - without server admin just go in a passworded channel like the clan match, to get away from them or tell it to a SA.

It is a bit of a pain in the ass when your playing a game and they come in shouting things, but hopefully this thread will make more SA aware of their behaviour.

Names, rough times and IPs if you can get them, Macca, please. As they're in my WoW section I'll deal with them if I see them.

Mmm, not sure what we can do about these players: they are legitimate users of Teamspeak, they just also happen to be twatish on occasions.

Ontop of this, one of them has an offensive login.

Unfortunetly, banning by I.P doesn't seem to work, as they have this amazingly fast dynamic i.p switcheroo going on. So in other words, unless we want to play the "how many times can you kick someone game" there's very little we can do

I disagree that they're legitimate. THN's TeamSpeak server is for THN people. They are not THN people, nor, I suspect, invited there by THN people. Given that, they're just squatting on our resources and flaunting our rules.

Can we do something such as requiring registration to get voice and ask that people come to THN's site (URL provided in the channel description) to request registration rights?

It's do-able. But a far simpler solution would be an expansion of how Haven stopped the madness.

Make all channels except for "chat-room" moderated channels, requiring all users to not only have been registered, but have Voice rights given to them by either an SA or a CA

I don't like that. There's plenty of swarm players who drop into the server on a regular basis because they can just drop in without any of the hassle.

If you can nail down an IP range on them, I wouldn't hesitate to just ban it outright, and hope no one legit is affected. If it does collide with a legit member, they can let us know here, anyway.

Noted. Makes the blanket solution very unattractive. Thanks for the heads-up.

I banned around 30 ips earlier for the same guy - rinse and repeat a couple of times (something I am happy to do) and he will soon get bored.

Why don't we implement a password on the TS server. Thats what most other clan/community's do.

And although some of you might say that some AS players come on from time to time, well the soloution to that would be have the password posted on here, that way I don't think that the (WOW) guys or anybody else would make the effort to come here and try and find the password - just to annoy people. Either that or explicitly state that if someone wants the pass to TS to contact a Mod/Admin or even Senior member of THN.

This is maybe a bit Heavy, and could be something to consider if it keeps happening, it could just be a short term thing in which they get bored and stop. however if not a password doesn't seem such a bad idea.

I'd rather leave it open to all and simply ban the unruly. Doesnt bother me to have to ban people.

TeamSpeak's banlist appear to have issues at the moment...

We've had a trio of Germans giving us trouble. They are not part of THN, they choose offensive names, and they don't take hints.

So, at the server level, banned all of:

84.130/16 and 84.131/16
(Deutsch Telecomm network dialup pool, as far as I can tell)

Their latest "fun" was to have names that resembled pHatBambi's (presumably after Bambi kicked them a lot yesterday), which is name-stealing in anyone's books. Then, after kicking with explanation, they came back with names similar to mine. Finally "uSuck" joined in the fun.

They'll not be coming back unless they change ISP.

If you know of anyone this is causing troubles to then please let one of the Admins know asap. Thanks.
