Fuck sake Nanor. What are you on about now?

YES, I'm bored. We're all bored. It's times like this people look for someone with infinite wisdom to find something to do and yes I have thought of something.

The Great THN Campaign consists of two teams of X players (depending on how many sign up). A campaign map is drawn up (Depending on what game is chosen. More on that later) and the two fixed teams play against each other on a decided day until the campaign is won. Awesomeness. This idea is made of it.

What game?

Well that's up to you dudes. The poll above is to gauge interest and later I'll make another poll to decide what game. So please post below game ideas. So far I can think of:

Company of Heroes
Dawn of War
Supreme Commander
Command and Conquer 3

and that is all I've got. I'd be up for buying a game one of you guys suggest. It's all in the name of fun.

Awesome.

Other Post, be I!

I'm super busy this week at work. I'm out of the country from the 29th for 2 weeks. I get back and then the whole company is super busy. I doubt I will have time to play. Sorry!

Sure, on the off chance we choose a game that doesn't make me want to puke.

I've had to reply "other" as I think this is a really good idea but I can't offer a high certainty that I'll be able to turn up for much of it.

I was struck by an idea on how to put together a campaign map for this, though.

You could list the maps available for play (which allows you to vet out any maps that are just crap or heavily one-sided) then allow each team to pick, alternately, the maps they want to be in their "territory", including the one that is their "home base".

So maybe there's ten maps. Each team chooses three, one to be their home, and the two that are in front of their home. Then there's a no-man's land in the middle of four maps and you have to advance across the game board playing on the maps defined.

e.g.

Code:
   R2 -- X1 -- X3 -- B2
  /        \  /        \
R1          /\          B1
  \        /  \        /
   R3 -- X2 -- X4 -- B3

R = Red Team
B = Blue Team
X = No Man's Land

Each of those points is a map, each line is a way between each map. I imagine that people move across the map capturing the "maps". Both teams choose a place to attack secretly (perhaps posting their choice to a neutral 3rd party?) and then the next two games are fought over the maps they've chosen; if it's the same, there's just one battle for this round. The game is then fought in rounds 'til one side has no more game board squares left (i.e. they were down to their last square and then they lost their last game).

I'm sure this could be extended such that it could be played across different games too!

Games such as Civ4 come to mind, you can create permanant alliances in it that will allow you to have more than one person per team... we could also go for some kind of console-based competition as part of this whole thing too.

I'm not a big fan of RTS's but I do like the idea.

Maybe trackmania too... best time over a 10-minute time trial round or something.

I like the idea. on the list you gave, i can play supcom and i think my computer can take 8 people on a map, be pushing it though.
Also its about time i started gaming again, this might be the push i need.

We can use the races between maps to decide something or just be called the transport section between campaign areas. You know it's important to get to the next battle as fast as possible.

I was thinking I could run it by the iGi guys. We could end up having multiple teams which could be pretty awesome for diplomacy. What do you guys think?

I'd probably be up for it, though probably just for dawn of war, and I need to find another copy as mine doesn't work wonderfully at the moment.
