Gamespot's Performance Testing Guide

A kind of weird, not really helpful but moderately interesting look at the various graphical settings and requirements of CnC3. Probably the biggest thing to point out is how GREAT the game looks at high quality ... and then how UTTERLY SHAMBOLIC it looks (comparatively at least) at low quality.

The game doesn't seem to care too much about what hardware you use. Processors don't hinder the performance too greatly, at least 1gb RAM should see you by just fine and even relatively old GFX cards like the 6600GT should provide you with decent framerates even on high quality and resolutions in excess of 1280x1024. In that respect, the rubbishness of low quality is perfectly justified when even nonsense cards like the Geforce 6200SE can manage medium settings.

OK so I walked around town last week checking out prices of CnC3... HMV had Kane edition at £34.95, regular at £29.95. GAME had both editions (strangely) at the same price of £34.95 and Gamestation had the regular edition at £32.99 and the Kane one at £39.99.

My question to those of you who have it: Is the Kane edition worth it or should I just get the normal one?

According to Play.com , the Kane Edition just has:

Exclusive gameplay content includes five multiplayer maps and three in-game unit skins.

Strategy videos from the game developers, deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and the "Behind the Lines" making-of video.

Exclusive art and desktop wallpapers.

So if you feel like paying extra for those, then go for it. I would say they are worth £1, maybe £2 at the most. But then I get my copy of Kane Edition for £17.99, same as regular edition pre-order price, from Play.com as I pre-ordered as soon as I heard there was a limited edition :) I probably wouldn't have paid £5 for the extra stuff...
