Do what I do; set up a PayPal account and just use it for Steam. Steam doesn't complain about using it at all, and I've found PayPal is fine with almost every single card. Steam thinks my card is stolen and won't accept it, while PP does :)

Well from when I fired the server up and Nanor and I went on to test it, the server steadily filled up with players until it was full :)

Everything seems to be running fine apart from the fact that the server did not change map, which I think I have fixed. Some questions we need to consider however...

1. The server is currently set at a maximum of 18 players. When full, the server was coping fine. Do we want the number of players increased or remain the same?

2. The name of the server. At first the name was "TheHavenNet - Team Fortress 2", which I have now included our website address on the end. Does anyone suggest anything different?

3. Custom Content. I have found, so far, no type of admin modification that I can impliment into TF2. Either there is none, or I am just incompetent at finding it out :P I tried to install Mani Admin but to no avail. If anyone can help me out on this front then feel free to step in!

Apart from that, the server is completely playable. Encourage people to play, add it to their favourites, and have fun!

I'd go for 24 players to be competitive with the mainstream TF2 servers.

Sounds good. There's no "server information" box as there is in the Battlefield series but it won't be long 'til some mods come out to provide server information on connection, stats, etc, etc.

Sounds great. Thanks KC. :)

There is a Message of the Day box that appears as a blackboard when you first join a TF2 server. I can edit the text in that to anything I want. At the moment it just says welcome to the THN server and also includes our web address.

I had a problem buying with a card on steam, I raised a ticket with Steam Support and heard back around 24 hours later, it turned out that it had rejected my card details once and so triggered security, which they promptly lifted.

Dez it's something to do with the Bank of Scotland Secure system though they were unable to tell me exactly what, i have had general problems with using my card online since the bank introduced the service (it just got refused by play tonight) so i have now requested a new card and hopefully that'll sort everything

KC, U ROCK! cheers dude! shall be giving the server a good work out tonight! And yes, write on the black board thing the map rotation and any info like team killing ect ect. Dont think there would be to much admin as its only the demo.

All the support in these admin mods are for things like CSS, NS, TFC, HL2 deathmatch but none of them have any support for TF2.

I will give clanmod a go at some point and see if I can get it working, if not, someone else with admin access to promethius who would like to have a go at it is welcome to. Not until I have tried first :p

I'll keep everyone posted on my progression.

I think I'm going to leave installing an admin mod until more support is available for TF2. I've been unable to get one to work properly.

I've made some tiny changes to the server and also fixed a bug:

- Fixed a jerkyness problem with player models. This was due to some bad settings in the server config file.
- Fixed server not changing map. The server now cycles through all TF2 maps.
- Increased maximum players to 24.
- Added link to our teamspeak address in the MOTD.

At the time of writing this the server is full of players enjoying some intense games. It's doing well :)

The server seems to be running like a dream and is keeping lots of players for most of the time, which is awesome. Hopefully as the server is up for more time we can start getting a few regulars and then get ppl coming to these lovely forum like shores.
Good Job KC

Hmmm, the server seems to be stuck cycling between dustbowl and hydro. I'll investigate further after dinner!

It's great you are doing all this KC, but why not ease the pressure on yourself and wait till the official release?
