Total Annihilation

Diplomacy of spicy forming an alliance with Pwnstar and creating so many nuke bunkers they outproduce the anti-nukes of the defensive player :p

Good to see there's more interest in this now, we can get some games going soonish...

As for what mods to use, I'd stick with the standard up to 3.1 stuff, including official expansions. Once newer players are happy we can expand out to AA if people want, if for nothing more than larger and more varied maps.

I've been playing Balanced Annihilation with another group of gamers - seems much more, well 'balanced' than TA used to be :P

BA isn't bad. That said any of the mods tend to overwhelm at the beginning. Might be worth 1-3 games on vanilla just to test networking viability as well.

Right, I've just come back to the internet after some time away due to boredom/renovation work etc - I'll get TA tested over Hamachi with Vel in the next couple of days and hopefully end of next week we can try and get some matches going :D

Hamachi sounds good but I'd need to install it and set it up again, I guess you'll post details for that?

Why over hamachi? It works fine via the built in lobby client?

Really?! There's a LAN option within the game, which works when you're on Hamachi - but we've always had issues getting it to work online any other way...

Can work with direct IP if you a) know your external ip and b) have the networking correctly set up forwarded etc.

Ive had it working fine via the built in lobby with various people hosting.

Hmmmm, that'll definitely be something to try then....
It may be in the past it didn't work as some of us were living together, and thus using the same external IP. Setting up a virtual LAN through Hamachi therefore allowed us to play together, as well as including those outside of our household.

Good news, Hamachi worked a treat even through what could be considered the worst situation possible.
3g tether, openvpn to germany and a SSH tunnel back to the UK.
I vote for hamachi as it seems battle tested.

Also install the 6 cavedog units if you own the gog.com version as they forgot to add them.

Also anyone else buy the game. Now.
