given i can connect to the minecraft server fine on prom, why when itry using either teamspeak / promethius or minecraft, does it still fail

Yes, I'm on plusnet atm Using the direct 213. IP address works.

nslookuping promethius gives a different reply to minecraft

Your router seems to be your dns server - what DNS forwarders is it using ?

It just uses the plusnet ones that are assigned when it synchs. It's possible its doing some odd caching somewhere, but I've never had an issue before when i used to run my DNS server locally.

Still doesnt explain why using a hostname wont connect, but IP will

That IP is proms old IP from Rapidswitch, so seems Plusnet have some issue.
