Worlds best comedians

Well its a debate i've had before, but I maintain my opinion that in sheer brilliance Billy Connolly cannot be beaten. Your opinions and favourites?

I always thought of eddie izzard as strangley misguided in sexuality and in personality

But Billy is a genius! He doesn't write a script, just goes on stage n talks! Thats why I think he's a genius.

How so? His propensity to high-heels and skin tight leather doesn't make his comedy any less funny. In fact, at times, it really adds to the humour value.

Billy's comedy is really in words and sounds.

Eddie's comedy requires actions too. It's very visual. That really appeals to me.

The funniest man I have ever seen is Buster Keaton. But, by Modern Standards Peter Kay is a cut above the rest

But like music, comedy is so broad, i find it hard to pinpoint this or that as the absolute summit. It's just too diverse.

The Big Yin all the way. I used to be pretty obsesed with his stuff tbh. got about 9 or 10 of his DvD's and Videos. He's a blue skinned Scottish hairy hippy comedy genious.

Sorry T-bone but he sucks. I liked him first time i saw him but if you watch every show hes done. They are all basically the same which really does annouy me. so hes only good if you have once seen one of his shows.

If you believe that any stand up comedian gets on stage to do even a 5 minute session without a script then I'm afraid you're being rather naieve!

Everything is scripted, rehearsed and practiced for a very long period of time. The best comedians are the ones who make it feel as though it's completely spontaneous. The best of them being Eddie Izzard.

Modern, bizzare, animated, energetic, left wing and multi-lingual (the bastard). He tells great stories about nothing in particular. His link backs are astounding. Some dodgy impersonations of God at times but Jeezy Creezy is genius.

I don't know of "Taboo". He was in "Mystery Men", though, and did the voice for "It" in "Five Children and It".
