Just saw The Raid.

Best action film I've seen in years
Best martial arts film I think I've ever seen.
(Possibly the most violent film I've ever seen, along with one of the most gory)
Well paced, decent sound, great build up of tension in places.
Decent acting and plot for a martial arts film.

Agree with both reviews by Panda... Thoroughly enjoyed The Raid, highly entertaining, fairly gory in parts, even if only implied. God Bless America was exactly as Panda put it too, both worth a watch though.

In other news, picked up an album by Zulu Winter the other day, was very impressed. Not sure how to classify it, but the band have drawn comparisons to Foals, which are probably referred to as indie rock, though not pop in the slightest. So worth checking out anyway, song called Silver Tongued was a personal highlight.

Saw Cosmopolis tonight. Hated it, despite liking the book. Very poor adaptation, wooden performances, feels shallow compared to the source material.

The new Fables is great, as always.

Music wise I'm currently digging DEEP into the back catalogue of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, but someone did play me some Paloma Faith the other day that I thought was good.

Saw Killer Joe.

Great film, tense, filled with black humour and extreme violence. Good performances all around.

Well worth seeing unless you have a weak stomach. Film is punctuated with moments of EXTREME violence, as well as graphic nudity (in a non sexy way) so if you can't handle that, best avoided, but you'll miss out on a great film.

So, I caught the first two episodes of revolution yesterday. It sucked, hard. Poor script, performances, characterisation, very derivative, ludicrous science (even for tv).

Well worth missing.

I'm not quite so disparaging as Panda, but I've also watched the first two episodes and I don't think I'll watch any more. I could forgive it for all the things Panda mentioned if it showed a bit of liveliness, some real heart, but it doesn't. Rather leaden, really.
