So, I caught the first two episodes of revolution yesterday. It sucked, hard. Poor script, performances, characterisation, very derivative, ludicrous science (even for tv).

Well worth missing.

In contrast, I caught the fist episode of last resort, and it seems like it will be functionally solid and worth a watch.

So, ghostwolf and I, along with Cheezewhizz and his wife went to see Looper tonight.

I was interested in it, despite the trailer looking a bit average.

Incredibly glad I did.

People on this site know me well enough to know I generally don't deal in hyperbole (not positive anyway), so I won't mince my words when I say this could be the best film I've ever seen. I don't see any way they could have made it a better film.

See it.

It makes Inception (a silly, if enjoyable film) look like it was written by an idiot child.

Really? Also seen it. Found a scene fairly early in the film right at the very top of my viewing tolerance. If they'd kept it up for even one more minute, I would have walked out. Even so, thought it was pretty decent but wouldn't even have registered on my top films list. Perhaps such a gruesome scene broke the film for me? Not sure...

Which scene? Spoiler it up?

Which scene? Spoiler it up?

The scene relatively early in the film where Joe's given up his friend and they've called "the doctor", who then proceeds to (off camera) take his friend to pieces, literally, and the results of that are seen from the future version of his friend as though they were old injuries. They could have stopped at a finger or maybe two. I got the point. That did not need to spelled out; I already knew they were sadistic, self-serving liars who'd use any level of violence to keep their place in power. Surprised that even made a 15 rating.

See, that made me grimace, but I thought it was handled fairly subtly. I thought it was fine for a 15. This was probably the only scene I thought it could have been.

Wouldn't sending precious metals back in time totally fuck the economy?

Just saw Looper and am with Panda, loved it. I had no issues with the scene mentioned by Ronin. Having said that I'm watch a fair amount of pretty unpleasant foreign horror films, so am fairly desensitised.

Would highly recommend people see it.

Watched Looper today, thought the film was excellent, i also had no problems with aforementioned scene, I was not all that impressed with the <shooting a kid> scene though.

The scene Ronin mentioned was fairly pivotal to the movie and the interactions between the 2 major characters. It was very important to understand that permanent changes to the earlier self transfer instantly, as if they had always been including new memories, onto the older one. So much so the writers did not think that having it as a spoken scene/narration would translate it adequately to the viewers.

Feel like terminator 2 after watching that.
