so EA are blaming Steam, but attempting to figure out a solution. I really hate to say it but EA certainly *seem* to be the good guys in this situation...

You mean EA want the best digital distribution service out there to suddenly change it's terms of service because EA wants to have it's cake and eat it? Nah i don't think that makes EA the good guys...

I suppose this means they'll be pulling all their other games from steam, because, you know, this is obviously such a big deal...Such a big deal it never bothered them before with BC2 etc.

But with BC2 they weren't pushing their own download service - Origin has had them kicking it up a notch, and i can definitely imagine them not releasing future titles on Steam, or at least not at launch.

No entirely sure why you're posting here - seems like a waste of your time if you don't care.

Perhaps it is because BFBC2 wasnt such a big deal to them.

Reasoning aside - my point stands. EA haven't really been pushing their own download service before, only now are they and because of that i think we will see a shift in where you can get hold of EA products.

Apologies. I don't think my post was particularly clear.

My main point is I don't care about EA's download service. I've had nothing but problems with basically everything about EA's games. - Their password and account recovery system has caused me issues, punkbuster is nothing but a pain in the arse, UPDATING punkbuster was even more fun. I still continuously get kicked from their games despite having no issue with my connection as shown by continuous TS contact.

Now they want me to have to use something they organise to get games and DLC, something that they've shown time after time that they can't do well. They are late to the party. It shows, and it's too late for me to care. Their product is not inelastic - I won't miss it.

See you have the exact same opinion as me... i don't get why you were saber rattling earlier.

In Battlefield 3, the Knife is a melee weapon.

Unlike in previous titles, there are different ways to use the combat knife.
First, there is a one key-press "Quick-Knife" attack, which is similar in premise to the knife attack in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, but requires two hits to kill a target. It also is not possible to follow up with a second slash as fast as the wieldable knife.

Secondly, the knife can be equipped as a weapon, similar to Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142, and can perform a quick slash attack, which will kill in two hits to the front or one to the back, but will not award the player with Dog Tags. Pressing and holding the attack button at an enemy from the back or side will perform a quick stealth takedown, which will award the player their victim's Dog Tags, which also awards a EXP bonus.

Damn EA and their stealth takedowns :(

So far they've given you all the options in the server config to make the game more like BF2 or more like BC2....

You can disable auto health regen, disable the shit spam-q 3D spotting (so it's just on the mini map) and other stuff too.

The only thing they need to implement is the command rose tbh, if we can disable all the other shite then there's no problem with BF3 being awesome (on our own servers). Also, I'd really like to be able to play BF3 again but battlelog is offline :(
