Battlefield: Heroes!

More hinted information from Gamespot regarding Battlefield: Heroes' advertising:

Gamespot said:
EA plans to make money mainly through advertising. For instance, whenever the game is loading, you'll see ads. We saw two big banner ads for EA games that were released last year (keep in mind we saw the in-development version of Battlefield Heroes, so those were placeholders). EA says that there will not be any in-game advertising in the game itself, so you will not see any billboards or posters for the latest Hollywood movie or Detroit car while dodging bullets. A secondary source of income is microtransactions that are entirely optional, though EA didn't really go into depth about what types of things you'll be able to purchase.

3rd person is better then 1st in my opinion, you can see more going on around you :)

Indeed it does, but it also opens opportunities for exploiting IE wallhumping! (Humping a wall peering round the corner waiting to kill someone, usually with a shotgun)

3rd person, just doesn't feel realistic.

Who lives life watching themselves from behind?

Also accurate aiming goes out the window.

Its meant to be a fun shooter remember :p

therefor accuracy isn't a huge thing in BF:H :p

Hold on now. You watched that trailer, and the thing that jumped out at you as being unrealistic was the third person viewpoint? Seriously?

Well whats unrealistic about people sitting on the wings of some planes? ... ;)
Honestly I think that 3rd person is not that bad, but I'd prefer it if there was a selection between 1st and 3rd person. FUrthermore I'm quite curious about what the mentioned "special powers" will be, the soldiers shall have :)

How can not being able to see your legs or feet be a good argument against 1st person? What purpose does seeing your legs and feet serve apart from being slightly more realistic. At least first person has more realism to it than 3rd person.

3rd person in my opinion, does affect aim. It can be more difficult to judge firing a weapon unless some kind of decent targeting system is in place, otherwise, I would have to object against 3rd person for a shooter.

I think you are all missing the point here.

This game is not intended to be a realistic shooter! Hence the 3rd person view. It allows you to see more of the battlefield. If this game plays ANYTHING like Warhawk on the PS3 (very fun game), and it looks like it will, I will be playing this ALOT.

If you prefer more realistic shooters then this game is NOT for you.

If you also like games that are based on having fun (not that realistic shooters aren't fun also of course!) and are a little over the top, this game will be for you :)

Btw I just read in a games magazine (Gamestar) that you will be able to switch between 1st and 3rd person, so no worries ;)

I don't see what the huge deal is. I think either way it's gonna be a fun game and whether I'm looking at my own ass or someone elses through my own will make no difference! :p

Gawd... I have a sneaking suspicion it's not meant to be realistic.

For those interested in the theme tune, it's available for download as well as some other goodies.

EDIT: Also, there are only going to be two maps on release. Whatever the most played map is, infantry or vehicle, they're gonna continue to make more of that type.

Am I the only one who really likes the new way EA are handling things? I've almost forgave them for 2142...
