In what Myself and Zoog are putting forward as the match of the whole league, this game had everything except some deaths...

It ended 3-3, which, on reflection, was a very good result considering the game - lots of scoring in the first half, a very tactical second half and a last-move-of-the-match equaliser from myself made it a very entertaining and enjoyable game.

Some periods of lucky rolls and some unlucky rolls for myself meant the game swayed back and forth continuously... watch the replay! it was an awesome match.

I'll try and come up with a more full write-up tomorrow...

Hoy, :)

What! A! Brilliant! Game!

I scored first, on Bloke's drive, no less. Bloke tied, then I scored again.

Score tied at 2-2 at half time, with Bloke pulling off an incredible one-turn touchdown on his turn 8.

On the second half, I elected for a slow grind to the line, keeping a nice, solid cage throughout. Managed to take about five of his players off the field, and scored on my last turn.

And then, again, Bloke does a one-turn TD on his turn 16!!

Final score was a 3-3 tie, well deserved by both players.

I should have taken one extra turn to score my second TD...

Cheers,
J.

I'm loving the fact that everyone is enjoying this league. Be sure to sighn up for the long term on we'll run afterwards.

Alright, from what's been posted, since its unlikely that the other game this week will go ahead (due to patio building or some such), not much has changed.

No one has managed to take the full 9 points from their first 3 games, which to me, is extremely encouraging. This implies that everyone is getting a grip on the game, and that perhaps those that started with a playing time advantage are beginning to be caught up, reined in by everyone else. Hopefully be the beginning of the next league, it will be really competitive.

What else is nice, is that the balance of teams at the top of the leagues is variable.

In D1, at the top we have some wood elves, and some orcs

In D2: Dwarfs, Skaven and Lizardmen

In D3: Goblins and Humans

This confirms to me that the races are actually fairly well balanced, though in a short league, its kind of inevitable that dwarves will look very strong due to the skills edge they start with. - We'll just have to play a longer league next time to erode this won't we!

It'd be nice to get Ronin and Ghostwolf's opinions on how this has gone so far, as the feloow organisers. Both of them have put in a fair amount of effort to get this off the ground, so I hope everyone is enjoying it!

I guess the other thing that needs mentioning is the criteria we will use to define who goes into the playoff sysyem:

In terms of this:

Factor 1: Winning your league. Naturally this goes to the team with the most points.

The best runner up (points wise) from the 3 leagues will also go in, making it 4 players for a semi final and final.

In the event of multiple teams on the same points:

Next Factor: Scoring differential (or goal difference, to make it clear we're sort of following football rules) I.E. Number of touchdowns - number of touchdowns conceded

Third factor: Touchdowns scored: More is better.

Fourth factor: Head to head record

5th factor: Highest CURRENT Team Value

Hopefully none of these subfactors will come into play, but Ronin and I checked the ranking system the BB league uses, and after points, it reverts to INITIAL STARTING TEAM VALUE, which is not fit for purpose.

If this causes problems, we will shut down the league after the group stage, and create a new 4 team playoff system for the qualifiers.

so... that's wood elves, orcs, dwarfs, skaven, lizardmen, goblins, humans... yes, that's a pointer to how balanced the races are :P

Forced a draw between Magosreborn and Dr Drae (as both were unable to play with neither side being totally to blame for it) which will conclude this weeks matches :)

On to week 4
