Disgruntled and annoyed with them yes. Unlikely to try again very soon yes.

If/when they bother to release a decent server then I may get interested again - and it better run on linux or there will be throwing involved.
I leave you with this thought ... "Brink Sucks!" You'd honestly be better spending the money on, well anything else really

If you're in any way interested in taking a look at the current state of Brink, Steam have it available as a free weekend (discovered courtesy of Eurogamer).

I had a similar confusion, actually.
There's three menu options in the top left, which I think are:
Campaign
Freeplay (?)
Challenges
Whatever that middle one is does multiplayer server browsing, etc.
