Bye Bye Diablo 3

yea I read that earlier today.

It just disappeared off my radar.

Not read all the Q&A, but I presume that Blizz will be taking a cut of the proceeds of each auction, in a similar way to how they do it with in-game currency on the WoW AH now.

It just stinks of greed.

...what? You guys know that diablo 2 was rife with item selling via ebay, right? I don't see why they shouldn't move that ingame, if not for the sake of convenience than for the sake of fraud prevention.

Because I don't want to play a game where I fall behind others who pay real money so they can get their items faster. Especially not in a game that costs me 50€ in the beginning.

Well, I expect your game options are becoming more and more limited every day.

I was hoping blizzard would do this, its better than the diablo2 situation, where they have to spend endless time tracking down easy to close item sellers who steal money that should be blizzards, or in this case people that put in time.

Plus this allows blizzard to have non binding items in an online rpg type game, again.

This just makes me want to buy the game even more than before, afteral, and not because i will be buying and selling, but because bliz will have more time to spend on games.

Players Only
Blizzard does not plan to post items for sale in the auction house. The driving purpose of the auction house is to provide players with a fun additional in-game option for what they do with the items they obtain in the game. Items sold in the auction house will be posted by players and purchased by players.

THIS

Safe and Sanctified
The real-money auction house provides players with an easy-to-use, Blizzard-sanctioned way to collect money for items they obtain while playing Diablo III. It also helps protect players from the scams and theft often associated with questionable third-party sites by providing a secure, completely in-game method for purchasing and obtaining the items they want for their characters.

This too.

How is the transaction fee determined?
A nominal fixed transaction fee will be deducted from the seller for each item listed in the auction house. This fee consists of a fixed charge to list the item, which is assessed whether or not the item is successfully sold, and an additional fixed charge that is assessed only if the item is sold. Because the listing portion of the fee is charged even if the item doesn’t sell, it will be in the seller’s interest to list items he or she believes other players will be interested in, and to do so at a competitive price. Specific details related to the transaction fee for the currency-based auction house will vary by region and will be announced at a later date.
They take the money yes bloke, this is further goodness though really.

Theres no obligation to play the game on the live realms, and even if there is, play it in a passworded game.

The unfortunate downside of the nominal fee is that players without any money on their account may not be able to sell anything. Blizzard have not mentioned how this will be resolved, though on 2 occasions on that mmo page there is a mention of fee waiving, presumably for those people who wont put money on their account to pay for AH fees.

This just makes me want to buy the game even more than before, afteral, and not because i will be buying and selling, but because bliz will have more time to spend on games.
That said, ive had it on order since "Order Placed:
12 April 2010" :) - it gone up £5 since then too.

I'm sorry but this is just perfect for botters and RMTers to legally make money. I'm out.

And the diablo 2 alternative whereby blizzard gets nothing is better? Items will be cheaper this way relative to the way they were way ovrpriced in d2(i never bought any as i had access to everything in the game online).

Diablo 3 isn't an mmo is it? Therefore there's no real economy because there isn't a persistent world? Don't you just play it coop with a bunch of mates?

Therefore why the angst over this? It clearly won't affect you if you don't have any desire to use it.

Personally I wish they'd put it into wow, I could quit my job cos I am gooooood at selling stuff.
