Could you not do the try before you buy option on promethius instead of us uploading it ? :)

I was wondering if you have a link that would tell us exactly what files we need to sort out for upload ? :)

That'd rely on me having an interface to do that with on Prom, which I don't. Unless you know a way I can do that from command line?

From the README.linux file included in the linux server patch:

1. Introduction

This document explains how to install the Call of Duty 4(tm) Linux server
version 1.0. Installation from scratch and upgrading an existing installation
are both covered.

Usage is very similar to other Call of Duty(tm) titles ... many
of the console commands, command lines, and cvars are identical, so if you
are comfortable maintaining dedicated servers for those games, you will find
this process familiar.

MOD USERS: PLEASE READ...
It is recommended that any user modifications that have been
installed to the Call of Duty 4(tm) directory be removed before
installing this package. These modifications are not supported
by Activision(r) and may not be compatible with some of the new
features that are included. When installing or upgrading a server,
if problems or unexpected behavior arise, your first step in
troubleshooting should be to do a clean install with the original
data files.

2. Installation From Scratch

- Get the retail Call of Duty 4(tm) disc(s) (there may be multiple discs
depending on what edition of the game you have obtained, or perhaps a
single DVD-ROM disc).
- Copy the contents of disc one's "Setup/Data" directory to wherever you
want to install the Call of Duty 4(tm) Linux server. There should be a
"localization.txt" file in the root of this directory, and a "main"
Subdirectory. Each additional disc should be opened and the contents of
each "Data" folder should be copied over to the existing Main folder. When
you have copied everything, the final installation size is around 3.5
gigabytes.
- Alternately, you may install on Windows(r) and copy the installed game to
your Linux system, but many will opt to skip this step since the data
files are uncompressed and easily accessible on the discs. Final
installation size is around 6.3 gigabytes.
- Unpack this archive in the root of the newly-copied tree, so
"cod4_lnxded" is in the same directory as "localization.txt". Unlike the
original Call of Duty(tm), there are not seperate .so files like
"game.mp.i386.so", so don't be concerned when you don't see them.

There's more in that file, but nothing else that explains about what is needed.

The other option, As you don't need the DVD for online play, and that is all we do now, Its just for installing, And between me and Kirby we have two DVD's, would there be any way for getting one of the Rapidswitch admins to put the DVD in promethius ?

They might do that for us. Or they might charge us for the privilege.

I've had a check of their site and can't see any specific details, though. Need Haven to answer this one with the full T&Cs.

Right then, the files from my DVD are now uploading. However, the localization.txt and main folder are 4.02Gig themselves. I am currently uploading just these. When I get home, assuming that the upload has gone well, I will then probably start uploading the other 2.13Gig of other files in the Setup/Data direction just to make sure all is good.

Other than that, when I left this morning, I was having a continuously upload speed of around 90kbps, meaning that (if I'm right and my internet holds), the main folder and localization.txt will take around 13 hours to send. I started at about 7:30am, so HOPEFULLY, but 8 or 9pm tonight, it should be done. Don't count on it, but meh. Also, I can't do ANYTHING else on the internet while this is going as it's taking up 100% of my upstream, so when I do get home I'll be invisible until it's finished.

Hope that's ok with everyone?

**EDIT**

your file : localized_english_iw05.iwd was only partially uploaded, I've finished the rest as the DVD's should have the exact same files on them :)

I've also finished off the localized_english_iw06.iwd file too, ( Little bits arn't much of a problem, it was just the WHOLE LOT would have taken me aaages :p

Ok, my upload folder is appearing empty to me... Erm, anyone have any ideas why? Trax has asked me to upload the Setup/Data/Zone folder as well, so I'm starting that now. I just don't understand why the folder is empty? I hope someone kindly moved the files away, rather than deleting them? :D

There was a single file that Trax uploaded previously that he asked me to clear out, which was a 700MB .rar file. However, I see the rest in two folders:

Code:
705M elDZoneFolder
4.3G elDsUpload

Still not see them?

elD the rest of the files are still there you fool :p

I had started the zone upload last night at 11pm, but after a couple of hours my connection to promethius just seems to drop and I have to manually start it again.

the zone folder, you were supposed to put inside the upload folder :) But that dosn't matter as Ronin can do that When its all finished :)
