I seem to remember this being tried and failing once already...

Re: Eh.

Well, Psi you need people to form clan :).

Enough for a game and then at least ~20% again as reserves.

We don't have that many players .

Though I think the view if you did would be "go for it!". You'd have to find someone to organise it all, would that be you?

Re: Eh.

Well, you may know Sephiroth... He is a good friend of mine, we wanted to resurect our old CoD1 clan {T|V} but as were already registered here we thought it might be worth starting it in the name of THN as it would be hell loads easier... And yeah, I guess I could organise it, and we already have about 4 willing participants.

Re: Eh.

No website, THN has one.
No server, THN has one.
No community, THN has one.
No tech whizzes, THN has some.
No TeamSpeak server, THN has one.

:D ? So, how about it? ^_^

Re: Eh.

Wanna pay for all that?

BF2 managed all-right without a server, get the community for COD2 first budskie

Re: Eh.

I can't see how the sub-forum or TS channel could be a problem, but I can understand with the server. One server would do in all honesty, just password it for clan-matches/practice.

Re: Eh.

Like he said, if you can come up with enough people to make it worth a subforum and server, then it won't be an issue.

I'd be glad to help, I personally love the COD2 MP and I'll support it.

As mentioned with respect to other games, including CoD2, in the past, if there's a significant quantity of posts on one subject and that looks likely to be sustained then I'll throw together a forum and usergroup for it. Otherwise, there's always "...Other Games".

[mod]Appended thread title with "(aka Call of Duty 2)" because the original title was uninformative.[/mod]

Re: Eh.

Remember that you always have the option of recruiting people to THN to come join you, not just recruiting from the current THN pool. That may be necessary if you can't find sufficient CoD2 players here right now.

Re: Eh.

Maybe if we could get a server for a week or so... It'd be alot easier to recruit. Hmm, do you happen to know if running a dedi server off of my pc would drasticly impare my games?

Re: Eh.

It's possible that having a server might actually make your first few weeks harder not easier. Seeding a server can be an utter pain, especially if you've only got 3 or 4 people, because getting decent games is hard. That can dampen enthusiasm for the game with the people you've already got.

You may find it most fruitful to do some light recruiting on one or two public servers (non-clan affiliated so that there's no talk of clan-member stealing) and make sure you get everyone to play on those one or two public servers as often as possible. Get the [THN] tag known. Mention no more than every 30 minutes "hey, anyone looking for a clan?" and see what responses you get. Even approach the people who look interesting in a "hey, we're starting a clan, got X number of people already, got a site, etc, etc, you interested?".

I don't know whether CoD2 supports sprays, but a decent [THN] spray in the fashion of the CS Source one DocBot produced could be another route to recruitment. Again, used sparingly (no more than once every 30 minutes) and carefully placed and designed (DocBot's looks like a man-shaped target with points on it, done tastefully as a poster that fits in with the game).

At the moment we have no server, though we're hoping to have that fixed sometime next month. For the next four weeks or so, try the public servers route. Then you'll get a feel for the enthusiasm (or lack of) you've got with the people already here and you can understand how many you might need from there.
