I want to try it, not a massive fan of te FF series, but it looks rather good.

Will almost definitely be getting this on ps3, but the platform doesn't really matter, as it'll apparently be cross platform servers anyway. a scary idea, in relation to the sheer number of elitists that'll be inspired. D:

Cross Platform won't work, IMO.

Since you'll need to type in an MMO, and having a Mic on 24/7 while playing it, so you can talk to others would get annoying.

I was thinking about trying it, if any MMO is worth my monies it's going to be a Final Fantasy one. I'd be getting it for the PS3, of course. What platform did you buy it for, Vel?

Oh. Owned at the Playstation'ers getting it. You get it March next year. PC gets it end of this month.

Oh no. We have to wait longer to get a game on the platform it belongs on.

[/sarcasm]
Oh, that and I'll have to wait longer for the bugs, hardware issues, crappy framerates...

Wait a minute...

And the cross-platform stuff was something I read somewhere silly I believe. No idea if it's backed up or anything.

"Belongs on"? No game "Belongs on" any specific platform, tbh.

Oh. Not to mention FF14 is a MMO.

So you'd be quite happy for some Half Life 2, or Halo on the PS3? Or Wipeout on the PC?

Obviously no games are set to one console, but at the same time, certain games do 'seem' to 'belong' on certain consoles. Where the Halo series has always been on the XBox, the Valve Games on the PC, and the Final Fantasy games on the PS3, things have been mixing up a bit, but...

And I know it's an MMO. One of the reasons I WANT to get it on the PS3. An PS3 MMO is an interesting, risky concept.

Halo 1 was on the PC.

FF games have been on the 360, and the last online one (Hell if I remember the number.) was on PC.

But yeah, I would be up for Half Life on the Ps3. :p

Since the First Half Life was on Ps1, and the Orange Box WAS on the PS3, after all.

And as for wipeout? Never played it. Don't want to.

Anyway. Back on Track. FF.

Panda with issues...

I can't believe this argument has started over a FINAL FANTASY GAME.

The only platform they belong on is the table, underneath a pint of beer.

Crossing platforms with a MMO game is an interesting idea, but will face problems in the next 2-3 years.

Consoles have a limited life of around 5-6 years before the next enhanced version comes out and games will doubtless have backward compatibility issues with previous models.

With the PC, there is very little issue, as long as the game is still supported it will keep on going.

So if FFXIV continues beyond the 3 year mark it will likely just be mostly PC gamers.

There are reasons why the mighty Blizzard haven't coded their golden egg to the consoles.

Sony has stated they're expecting a 10+ year life on the PS3, and the PS2 still has new releases fairly often... I would say lifespan really isn't a consideration.
