The Multiplay i36 LAN Event!!!
Beginning on April 10th, (or possibly April 9th if you go for the Early Arrival Service) Multiplay's 36th i-series LAN event will be taking place.
What's the point of this event you say? 2000 people all show up at a warehouse-like building with their own PCs and just play games. That means any kind of game from the mainstream to the weird.
There are a number of tournaments that will be held during the event, most of which have cash prizes - but be warned! To get anywhere near the cash, you're gonna need to get through the Pro Gaming clans...
Where is it? Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry.
How much is it? For "BYOC" (that's Bring Your Own Computer) £80 for a full weekend pass that includes access to all areas. If you get your ticket before the 1st of December, that price is discounted by 20% to £64.
This is the official site for the upcoming event. All the info about the event is on here, and you can also check out various videos about previous events and what went on at them...
A bunch of us went to a previous event, i34, which was held this past summer (in August). Every one of us that went really enjoyed our time there and will certainly recommend this event to anyone who likes their games, even if you don't play any of the "main" games (like CoD5, WoW, etc.).
This is a chance for you to perhaps be introduced to new games or maybe introduce some people to different games. Maybe you can get out some of the old classics!
There is also a massive second hall, which is used as an exhibition hall for various vendors to come down and try to sell you their goods. Some of the stands are better than others, and some even have some hired totty for you to gawk at Alot of the stands will be running their own competitions of some kind where you can win various pieces of (sometimes very nice) kit.
We came very close last year to winning a Quad-Core processor each off of the Intel stand.... (stupid frickin pro clans, mumble mumble grumble).
So - go and check out the website to find out what it's all about, we will have to camp out for 3 or 4 nights, but details of who's camping with who and transport there and back can be worked out closer to the time when we know who's going.
Also, if you buy a ticket: Make sure that you register with the clan tag [THN]. This will make it much easier for us to get seats next to each other using their seat picker application.
