Tets, Activision seem unaware (or they were ;)) about this change, maybe that's all a farse and they knew... *shrugs*

According to Multiplay staff, who have contacts in Activision, they were unaware of this too.

This is all IW's doing and they are gonna get it.

Infinity Ward's doing or no, it's still taking things to the extreme. Instead of being childish about it, why don't you just drop this IW witch hunt bullshit and let your wallets do the talking.

Like I said, they've been delivering solid, enjoyable games for 8 years now and gained a lot of appreciation because of it. If you're going to nail them to the wall and humiliate them just for making this one contentious decision in their latest game (which will probably prove to be just as solid and enjoyable as their previous titles) then I say take a good long look at yourselves.

Have any of you considered that this might actually work?

As far as I can tell from trawling the internet is that people are complaining because they're losing the ability to go onto a favourite server and have a bit of fun with regulars. That's fair enough but you've got a friends list. Just join your mates through that. The old BF2 brigade used to have the most fun by joining a server and taking it over.

Some people are saying that there'll be no admin support to kick annoying twats off the server. I haven't seen admins kick many people that often. Twats on servers tend to remain and if that happens I find a new server.

Then there's the mods. You're all talking about promod, right? Doesn't this just change the attributes of a few weapons and stop perks being used? The private game might allow you total control for perks and whatnot. Weapon attributes will most likely remain the same but a standard should be adhered to. The modding community in CoD isn't particularly strong when it comes to gameplay or total conversions. We're not losing out.

I'm obviously missing something big.

The problem is that I don't want to have to have 20 different friend lists for 20 different games. It works so well on xbox live becuase you have a friends list that is universal across ALL games. There is no such service for PC gaming.

I want a server that I can tailor to my own liking with my clan mates that I can call my "home" server. This server I can then log in to and do WHATEVER I LIKE.

Maybe this could be construed as a witch hunt but I'm part of the mob and I'm going to be getting my Witch whether she likes it or not.

Nanor think about it this way.

THN was made up from people playing natural selection.

Natural selection had dedicated servers and a server list. People were able to go onto the server, and the THN community was formed. This lead to the forums and our own server. More people joined THN from jumping on the NS THN server. Without the ability to host clan/community servers, there won't be any new communities forming from that game. *loses track of what he was typing due to a massive fart that choked him* Errrr, Yeah, no communities will be born through the lack of a hosted server, all communities I've found came from me joining a server and going I like these guys, lets come here more often! That just wont happen any more as there is no servers to join on. I hate how infinity ward have decided that PC's need to be more like consoles. It's MORE DIFFICULT to set up what you're in the mood for on the console server matchmaking system, than it is to jump on a server using the server browser.

That's enough of that rant for now...

Also... I'm more in favour of Treyarch now.

Doesn't this game have full Steam integration?

Do you have such a server for CoD4? I don't have one for any game.

Say for TF2. It's great we have the THN server and it's nice to be able to be in total control but 10 minutes into the game it doesn't matter what server I'm on. If there are no dedicated servers I can still play with you very easily through the friends list.

A very valid point but having no dedicated servers doesn't spell the death for community gaming. When the BF2 brigade was running about we recruited a ridiculous amount of people and we didn't have our own public dedicated server. You and thatbloke both came into THN this way. Hell I'd love to know how many people came into THN through one of our dedicated servers?

If you really cared that much about this you'd buy CoD5: World at War, regardless if you had it or not, on the release day instead of MW2. Not so zealous now, eh? ;)

I've discussed with bloke where I'd like the tent to be, as far as meeting up I'd say downstairs main concourse for those that don't know newbury. I'm just going to head towards my seat as I vaguelly know where I'm going.

You have Solemn's number, bob and vibs have my number, so it's all cool :)

I will be attempting to get a spot in the quiet camping area, ideally with the tent exits leading directly or as close as I can get them to concrete, as it's gonna start raining on friday and not stop till sunday....
