[i40] Games

Borderlands! Played it at past two i-series, great fun on a LAN.

I would also very much like a super huge version of bomberman, but I can't remember the name (think it was up to 64 players, free)

So, do we have a definitive list of games we should be bringing? I only ask because the laptop I'm bringing has no optical drive, so I'll need to install off my main PC across the network and then make CD images which takes a fair old chunk of time.

teeworlds!!! (I will be running a LAN server for this, it's damned good fun. Particularly when we're all in the same room.

Seconded on BC2 and Civ4.

Also TF2, DoW:2, any thing else you can think of :)

Might be easier if we got everyone to post as many games as they have that's multiplayer, so we can see what we can do.

I think what I'll do, tomorrow, is set up a multi-choice poll for games and let people vote for the ones they want to play. Games with a lot of votes will therefore be good choices to have installed.

Trax...

< link to somthing saying not everyone can be arsed to pick through a list of games of EVERYONE on the forums who has added them and then go through a list of people coming to i40 to compare>

Oh. Not to mention: Not every game people have is on there.

Excellent non-constructive criticism mate, but in all seriousness, not everyone needs nor wants that information nor wants to broadcast it. I, for one, would say if you want to reap the benefits of any system you have to sow the information; which is a personal choice. I for one, did want to use the system and so gave it the information to utilise.

The thought from Ronin is excellent, I am unable to attend, but it's how we do things in the pen & paper crowd (for games that will be running, in their case).

If you would like that kind of information, develop a system that delivers it - but this if for your personal benefit, and not requested by anyone else, in that form; surely this means the leg-work should be provided by you. If you need someone to test it, give me a shout.

Well, I was hoping we could hammer out some kind of 'refined' list to try and avoid any of the total disorganised shambles which was our i37 gaming itinerary. We'd change games every half hour, on some random whim, and often to ones that only a handful of people owned.

That's not to say you can't arrange to have a few games of something amongst friends (like the Total Annihilation fraternity, or CoD4 or something), but we need a decent list of core games. I'm talking BRASS TACKS here!

A definitive list would be handy, or an 'essential' list. I dont have many games really at the moment (see my steam profile - see - not many). I play lots of a few games, rather than a bit of lots of games. Consequently, I will be the meatshield on a few of them if I've not played them before!

So I've had an idea whereby I/we could come up with a loose list of times that we can all aim for to play certain games, mostly based on Ronin's poll.

Now I don't want to sit here and tell you what you can/can't play and when, but if I were to come up with a list, that, for example, stated:

Friday 1pm: All jump on a TF2 server and play

Friday 3pm: All play BC2
...
Friday 9pm: Munchkin

Obviously such a thing is limited by who has what game what/when people want to eat, other LAN events that people may want to go to, but would people be interested in (very loosely) sticking to such a thing?

Again, the aim of this is not to regiment people's playing time or fun in any way, but to try and give people who want to play bigger LAN games with the rest of us a time to aim for to be around such that we can all play together a bit more than we did at last time.

At i37 the big game of TF2 we had went down very well I feel, particularly as we could play with outsiders too, but that was (as far as I can remember) the only real time that most of us got together and played the same game at the same time... While some of these games may not necessarily be your "favourite" games, I think if you're in the same room with 10 of the people that are also on the same server, it gives it that extra fun factor sometimes...
