Can we post our towers to the event? (hdd's & ram/gfx cards removed)

Post them?....

to be honest, if youve got hdd, ram and gfx card removed, you may as well just take the mobo and cpu out and just have your "tower" on a bit of cardboard you hang up behind your desk. Would definitely look impressive!

Possibly try and grab a smaller case than the one you have atm?

If need be just grab a carry case for your case and hop on zee train. Hopefully it won't come to that but both bloke and I have done this before.

Yeah, we'll sort ourselves out, possibly with bacon if needed depending on his car situation

I'm still working on a minibus, although granted it's not looking good. I'm waiting to hear back from an insurance broker if he can find ANY companies that will insure me.

You can hire a 7 seater from the major places at 23 but at about £400 for the 6 days. It may be worth putting it out somewhere that if someone has a minibus and is willing to transport us we can give/backhand them some money.

If I don't hear from the broker on Monday we'll have to look at other options.

And I contacted them a couple of days ago and they said no :p

The idea isnt bad, but does get expensive. The price of a small coach (20 seater) just up the road to london (single, not return) was about 15 quid each. If you then think that we won't fill it all with people, and telford is further away, itll get expensive fast.

What sort of price is a super duper advance ticket likely to be on the train?

I was looking at train fares recently and although they only have train times/tickets available 3 months in advance, an advance ticket on the right service could be had for £11.50 each way from Chichester (via Southampton) to Telford Central, booking on a random weekday in July. Total journey time of just under 5 hours (knock an hour off for going from Soton).

The route is Southampton->Birmingham and then from there straight across to Telford.

That may be different on the bank holiday weekend due to engineering works and the like, we'll have to wait until the end of May to find out if there's anything scheduled.

Something to bear in mind for getting a coach or something like that, there are a lot of folk from around the Southampton area that go to the LAN outside of ourselves. So might be worth investigating on the forums to acquire more people if we go down that route.

Having to rely on others?! Brave!

OK.

Basically, bus it not happening.
It is possible that they may be able to insure me on a minibus but they won't be able to give a definite yes/no answer until July (30 days before the hire).

Unfortunately this clashes with the need to buy advance train tickets if the answer is no so I think we're going to have to give up on the bus idea and work out what cars we are going to have available.

I am looking to get a Focus Estate or a Mondeo Hatchback/Estate in the next couple of weeks so that can take an amount of luggage. I believe Vibs is also looking at buying his dad's mondeo at some point so that may be able to take a chunk as well.

How do people want to proceed from this point?

I've made a post on the Multiplay forums asking to see if someone has space to take me and my stuff up - it may well be useful if others did that too.

With the cost of petrol getting exponentially higher by the day, I'm sure that people will certainly be willing to split their petrol costs with people :)

It's currently getting cheaper.... Don't know how long for though.
