My feeling is that we have gone through this already. For me if there's any genuine nos then I'm out as well. We have yes votes from those that have never done non clan box. I love the box. But I go for the social aspect of seeing you people (god knows why).

My feeling is for this event where we are in a new venue that it's worthwhile to be in the main hall to completely experience the EVENT.
For a first shot in a new venue I think being out of a box may well be a good thing. I think I side with huung that if johnny blokey and the trollmaster himself are out then I am as well.

That echo's my thoughts on this - I really think we should go in the hall so we know what it's like - if we don't like it, I'm sure there will be plenty of future events where we can box it up.

Exactly. Benefit of the doubt.

I was adverse to the move to Telford from Newbury, but I'm not going to resort to a box until I've tried it out the way it's meant to be done.

- but as Spicy said, good luck booking a box missing 3 people.

While i cant resent anyone who is not resonating with the above statement, it is still not very friendly to just say 'I want what i want and fuck you all', i dont know why we're assuming that the no(s) have all the power in the arguement, you should be ashamed.

I may be pro box (End of the day, im going to come box or no box, but if i felt as strongly about being in the box as you do about the hall, i just wouldnt come to the lan, and it would be your fault(that works both ways of course)), but i wouldnt say the above, especially when you know ppl can be replaced. If i did it would go like this:

Lets ditch these 3 and find a group of non spoilsports who want to be in a box.

I dont like the we wont pay you cant have it attitude.

Lets ditch these 3 and find a group of non spoilsports who want to be in a box.

Which is exactly what I would hope would happen, rather than the few 'no's spoiling it for others.

The reason the 'no' votes seem to have all the power is twofold:

1) If they don't want to be in a box, you then have to find more people to replace them, which so far has proven to be an issue.
2) You can't force people to pay extra money for something they don't want, whereas those who want a box wouldn't have to pay extra money were they not to get it.

If there are those who want the box so desperately they HAVE to have it, then that's absolutely fine, they just have to accept they'll have to find replacements for those who don't.
In the same way those who said 'no' don't expect everyone to abandon the box on their account, and join them in the hall. I'm sure those 'no' votes would be quite happy in a little group in the hall somewhere, just popping into the box occasionally to say hey, and joining in with the other social bits like takeaways and BBQs.

This vote isn't forcing anyone to move anywhere, no matter what they vote - it's merely to see where people stand on the box idea.

I would agree with mk1 but then we'd both be wrong. The last thing we need in this world is more incorrect people. :D

EDIT: having been told to make serious points: yes I would not stop you getting the box if you had a replacement for my seat I would more than happily hand it over and sit in the hall. Thus I'm not preventing you getting anything I'm merely not actively helping.

You can say "if you dont want to be in the hall dont come".

I cant say "if you dont want to be in the box dont come".

You see?

This is the the feeling coming from huung, from him im getting the above in this post.

One is optional, one is defacto, if we don't get a box we default to the hall, they are not equivalent.
The hall ticket is a prerequisite, did you not play RTS games?

Lets not get a box, huung [strike]doesnt want one[/strike] cant afford it. That seems fair to me.

EDIT:Realised that the only reason for this discussion is because its not a free upgrade.

Yes. I know what upgrades are.

Who the hell said "let's not get a box"? Quote it. Seriously, quote where it says that.

I'm trying to be reasonable here and unbiased, and yet you're turning around and acting like I'm telling you you can't have a box. READ. Read the damn posts and you'll see that no one is saying this.

You missed mk1's point that if we exercise our right to not have a box we're in effect stopping him because he can't replace us. Onus should be on the person wishing to replace us mind you.
We're basically in effect ruining his life by wishing to be in a hall.

I edited this, didnt realise you had replied.

I do agree that "Yes -- but only if the majority want to " should be viewed as: "abstain, will pay"

Wrong on the assumption. The cost is a peeve but I voted against it before knowing we had to pay extra. I wish to experience the hall on what could be my last iseries for a while. If this means I have to sit outside the clanbox, which obviously it implies then so be it.
Luckily a few others have similar feelings so I won't be alone should it come to it. <3

Exactly.

It's not that we want the box but can't afford it, we just don't want the box. The money isn't the issue here. If we'd been at Newbury, I'd want to go with the box, as that was becoming our little home away from home.
We've never been to Telford before, and I don't want to go in a box until I've experienced it as it's meant to be experienced - from the hall.

Here, I made you a flow diagram.

Actually i mean that there wouldnt have been a vote.

There is the miscommunication, this isn't settled by a vote. It's settled by reaching 32 paying ticket holders who wish to go in the clanbox.
See flowchart above.

Once 32 paying boxing people have been reached the clanbox is yours!

I highly doubt it would have turned out that way, i believe still, that were it free, it would never have even come up or been considered that we wouldnt have a box.

Ultimately this will come down to one of the metaphorical grown ups(<Insert several lan veteran thn grp organiser names>) saying something along the lines of, we have this many yeses, this many abstains, this many people, and this is how many no(s) it takes for us to not have a box.

You've probably noticed that from the way i am presenting my view, i would rather sit with you in the hall than have thn divided in 2 places, of course i dont see why i should, but i will.

This just gets more insane by the minute. I'm starting to fear for my sanity in having to deal with this.

Having two bunches split, some in the box, some in the hall, isn't the end of the world. It's not like they're going to erect barriers (lol, erect) to stop us from talking to each other, or seeing each other. We'll still do the group BBQs and meals, and socialise at the bar when things die down.

How many 'no's it takes for us to not have a box? 1.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE 32 BOOKING IDs, YOU DO NOT HAVE A BOX.

This doesn't mean those not wanting to sit in a box are preventing you from getting one, it just means you have to find people from outside of THN to replace those who won't be sitting in the box. 4 people drop out? You have 28 booking IDs and you therefore need to find 4 randomers to fill those spots.

You CANNOT force THNers who DO NOT WANT to sit in a clanbox to PAY MONEY to make you happy. That is not only morally unsound, but hugely retarded.
