This just gets more insane by the minute. I'm starting to fear for my sanity in having to deal with this.

Having two bunches split, some in the box, some in the hall, isn't the end of the world. It's not like they're going to erect barriers (lol, erect) to stop us from talking to each other, or seeing each other. We'll still do the group BBQs and meals, and socialise at the bar when things die down.
But ofcourse, the community wouldnt be divided over it (physically separated but not divided), but appart from me, no one seems to be vocalising a problem with the onesidedness of the box veto power.

How many 'no's it takes for us to not have a box? 1.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE 32 BOOKING IDs, YOU DO NOT HAVE A BOX.
You just dont get me at all, on this.

This doesn't mean those not wanting to sit in a box are preventing you from getting one, it just means you have to find people from outside of THN to replace those who won't be sitting in the box. 4 people drop out? You have 28 booking IDs and you therefore need to find 4 randomers to fill those spots.
This isnt going to happen. Which is funny because it seems that if it did, there would be no hard feelings between anyone. We would miss you though.

You CANNOT force THNers who DO NOT WANT to sit in a clanbox to PAY MONEY to make you happy. That is not only morally unsound, but hugely retarded.
Exactly, you hit it just right, if it was a free upgrade we wouldnt have a problem. And i see that you also believe that even if it was free you may have tried to get us in the hall anyway(in that instance you would almost certainly have failed) - you'll have to forgive this, but from my point of view and logic, when exploring something new a comfort zone/base to work and explore from is very good, whereas you want to wade straight in.

Part of why i have taken out staying in a hotel with wol is because if i do not enjoy the hall as i am currently resigned to be in, i want to have somewhere i can feel comfortable sleeping in at least, tenting is ok, but the newbury camp site didnt feel safe. I can say that if being in a box was certain, i would be tenting it, though if we do get the box, i will stick with the hotel.

I must remember to use the preview post button more oftern.

I'll add, that you have completely missread the situation, no one is being aggressive, no one is being abusive, no one is being rude and people are arguing structured points albeit with poor grammar. We're all friends here but we're allowed to disagree no?

I called you a poop on the sly. Big D is referring to this.
Probably might get a second infraction for clearing this up, but I just can't continue knowing you're oblivious and getting yourself into trouble.

UGH.

Can someone (other than Spicy) confirm that Mk1 is completely disregarding what I'm saying and making things up?

NO. NO NO NO. I don't want to get anybody into the hall. What I want is for people to go where they want to go, and not feel forced into one or the other. What you want is to force everyone into a clanbox, whether they want to be there or not. REFER TO THE CHART.

  • I
  • DO
  • NOT
  • WANT
  • TO
  • SIT
  • IN
  • A
  • CLANBOX.

EDIT: Also, might not want to tell a mod to mind their own business... this is their business, they're a mod >.<

I just want us to all be together. As the most LANed member of thn I can guarantee you will have fun wherever you are as long as you don't come in with a negative mindset.

For me this is very simple I want THN to sit all together, no it won't ruin the LAN for me and yes I will be disappointed if I'm forced to pick a group of friends over another group. Sure we can still spend time with the other group but it would suck arse to not be together.

Also if there is a mod tag it is there for a reason. If you are unsure on what that may be feel free to calmy ask in the form of a pm. Remember that you will often not see the reason for a mod tag as the offending item is often edited by the time you see it.

Heartwarming words from Bob as usual.

Never been in the clan box... to be honest I like the atmosphere of everything that's going on...

I have nothing to compare this with and if it came to it id put up an extra tenner just to see what the clan box has to offer.

I prefer being in the mix and seeing as there is so many of us going it seems silly just to waste the extra £300 on just each others company. Regardless of the venue it ends up being pretty much the same kind of atmosphere each and every time, if you take away all the other people and just add THN Members then we kinda have a real life team speak.

Like I said before, im impartial and which ever way the vote swings ill give up the extra tenner...

PS If you need replacements just for the clan box... I know a few that will take us up on the offer.

ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT... hmmmm :D

While i cant resent anyone who is not resonating with the above statement, it is still not very friendly to just say 'I want what i want and fuck you all', i dont know why we're assuming that the no(s) have all the power in the arguement, you should be ashamed.

I may be pro box (End of the day, im going to come box or no box, but if i felt as strongly about being in the box as you do about the hall, i just wouldnt come to the lan, and it would be your fault(that works both ways of course)), but i wouldnt say the above, especially when you know ppl can be replaced. If i did it would go like this:

Lets ditch these 3 and find a group of non spoilsports who want to be in a box.

I dont like the we wont pay you cant have it attitude.
no one has ticked the box for 'not wanting to pay'

Speaking from a monetary position i really cant afford anything atmo. At all. Thats definetly £10 i can do without spending but to be totally truthful i dont care. Either way is good for me. As Bob said i go to see the mob that is THN. As long as we're sitting relativly grouped up in the hall its all good.

No, they havent, but would we have even had any thoughts about not having a box if it was free? No, because we'd have booked it here. I dont think anyone said they didntwant to have a box until the possibilty was presented. Anyway If we ended up in the hall or in the box, im gona sit with bloke so i'd end up in the hall anyway if we were divided.

Having had a night to stew on this, i think that for me to experience the hall (As was said, the progresive lans were built on halls not boxes.) at least once is not bad, though i dont like the idea of doing on a first event at a new venue.

TBH I can understand the comfort that comes from a box rather then the halls but for a new venue I think it deservers the benefit of a doubt. Also at no point was it going to be a definitely on the box, if it was at Newbury then yes but at Telford we should try the hall this time.

Telford... The Experience.

Someone should coin that expression... wait till you hear the local accent :D

I agree with all of this here.

I think this vote lacks a "seriously don't care, just make up your minds" option :P
Having only been to one LAN (i42, with clanbox), I'm both attracted back to the atmosphere of the box, but intrigued by the hall. As it seems to be increasingly difficult to arrange, I'd currently veer towards the hall option, with the suggestion that if we don't like it, we get cracking on organising a box *much* earlier for i44.
Especially hunting down those people who don't get their booking IDs in till late (*smiles innocently*)
:P

Excellent post pingue. This will serve as an experience to all, and will help convince people to sort their stuff out earlier if they wished to avoid it ;p
