Mechwarrior: Living Legends anyone?

So, I've been playing MWLL for the last couple of evenings. Very pleased with it, more so now that I've fought through the "totally crap and no idea what I'm doing" phase. Not exactly very good, yet, but I am now getting some kills and surviving even quite desparate engagements.

Really sound crowd playing, as well, and thus far very little in the way of uber-builds. I'm not constantly being gauss-sniped or LRM bombarded or PPC raped. In fact, the most annoying things thus far have been the flamer hovercraft and aerospace attacks when I'm in a heavy mech. That said, I think they're both teaching me that I need to learn a different strategy, including "stick with my cover"...

Passive vs active sensors really adds an excellent dimension to the game. All very cool.

Playing as "Ronin Storm" in my usual very late slot.

The electronics suites are handled well too.
Beagle Active Probe = extended sensor range.
Blood Hound Probe = even more extended range sensors.
Electronic Counter Measures = it takes longer to lock you for missile fire
Guardian Electronic Counter Measures = takes longer to lock you, plus you show up 500m later on enemy radar.
Angel Electronic Counter Measures = creates a 300m bubble around you, affecting all all allies who then show up 700m later on radar.

Plenty of things with BAP/ECM and some with BHP/GECM but the ones to watch out for are the things with AECM - sich as one of the Atlas variants :S

This intrigues me slightly, but as I'm not certain my machine can run Crysis fluently I have to ascertain that first before getting involved in the actual game and mod.
Take this as a "Tentative" ;)

Oh man, yes. £9.99 to buy Crysis Warhead from the EA Store (cheapest I've found it). You don't need to download that, though, you just need the licence key.

Then you download the Crysis Wars trial (from where ever, but linked to Fileplanet) and the Crysis Wars 1.5 patch, before doing the downloads linked in the first post.

The Crysis Wars trial will ask you for your licence key. Enter that you got with Crysis Warhead and off you go.

Nudge nudge. Elbow elbow. :D

You should be able to play on middling settings if your machine copes with other more recent releases. The servers are generally a little choppy anyhow so it's not an entirely smooth ride yet but certainly servicable.

So far I have been unable to get past the startup black screen with Crysis. Patched to 1.2, fiddled with firewall, deleted the intro movie, all to no avail. Remains black and claims an error has occured and Windows are searching for a solution (unsuccessfully, of course). This is a problem others have had, but none of the methods mentioned on the forums worked for me (e.g. patch up, delete intro movie, allow in firewall, run crysis.exe instead of crysis64.exe, run as administrator etc). For the time's being I'm stumped. Far be it from me to derail this thread into a Crysis troubleshooting, but if anyone has encountered this and solved it, I would appreciate you sharing your insight..
Note: I haven't purchased the game yet, merely obtained it through other means (no point buying something my pc may not be able to run. I am fully prepared to dish out 10euros if I get it to work to gain access to MWLL.

I went straight to Crysis Wars rather than messing about with Crysis. Perhaps that's an option?

Try and "obtain" a copy of crysis wars rather than base crysis - it's more buggy tbh.

Yeah, there's lots of servers but usually only a couple populated. I play in the evenings GMT time.

So it seems my aging PC can't handle Crysis, which means I won't be playing MWLL with you any time soon. Faster CPU, I need it badly.

Ok seriously i've had enough of this game already and i cant even get it too patch completely. Every patch is a problem. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, sometimes the updater crashes sometimes it doesnt, Sometimes the launcher crashes sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes just for fun it'll get to 99% patchin on version 4.8 to 4.9 and then tell me its fucked and from then on wont patch it at all past that point forcing me to start all over again back at 4.0.

Nothing, and i mean nothing, ever, is worth this much hassle. I love mechwarrior alot. I even have the original mech operating manuals from waaaaay back when. But honestly this game is testing my bullshit limit.

I have it all installed but the joystick I bought for it worked for a short while then decided to die, been in contact with the manufacturers and tried to fix it but its seems to be completly buggered, so won't be able to play until I get it fixed. Playing a mech game with out a joystick is just wrong :p.
