My crumbling computer..

Nethack?

Anyway, sorry to hear about your troubles doc, really hope that it all gets fixed soon enough.

I suppose it sometimes goes to show that a prebuilt PC can sometimes be less hassle, even if it's not necessarily the best value... don't think I'm recommending it, but it's certainly an advantage not having to worry about component reliability and having a single warranty. :)

Not everyone is a geek and has the time and inclination to learn how to do that. Be nice :)

Why not go back to Battelfield 1942 and let Doc loose on a Submarine :D Just for old times sake.

And lo and behold, it was the RAM again. Fantastic. This is crucials top of the line type RAM? I think I'll swap brand now.

1942 was the original and (debateably) the best. Never played secret weapons of WW2 though... But I had road to rome which was good fun :D I ROCKED with the sniper rifle in that game too. Suck with it in bf2, and am kind of ok with it in 2142...

You could even control and pilot the aircraft carriers! :D

Floating plane-spawning death-ship ftw. :D

Yeah BF1942 was good, I remember it fondly as having high graphics requirements for it's day... it refused to work on release until I upgraded my system...

Given the history of issues here, I'd consider checking the quality of power the machine is receiving. I'm no expert, but when random components fail on a regular basis I tend to think there's an under/overvoltage issue. It might be wise to invest in a UPS to 'clean' the electricity a bit?

I'm living in a large apartment building in the center of town, and I've got a seasonic 430w psu (which is very good). So the power supply is likely very stable. These sticks are meant to run on 2.8 volts, but I'm trying to run them on 2.85 now, to see if that works. If it doesn't, well, the company who sold them to me will have to replace them with something else. That works.
