The remade version of Star Trek?

Spock's home planet is blown up, he and Kirk are like enemies at first. The old comrade is an older spock.

Well they both have something in the story about a planet exploding (I had to wiki as it's been years since I saw either), VI is a more obvious candidate so it's probably that one out of the two.

Ah, yes. Good work.

Klingon fuel planet explodes leaving Klingon Empire in tatters. Klingon Ambassador is sent to make peace and Enterprise is the logical choice to meet and escort the Ambassador. Well, except that Kirk hates Klingons, of course. While they sit down to dinner, a warmongering Klingon is already maneuvering his cloaked warship to fire on his own side making it look like Enterprise did it. Kirk and McCoy are arrested when they try to help out and then sentenced to life imprisonment on Rura Pente, a Klingon gulag. They escape, intercept the warmongering Klingon, and Sulu turns up in Excelsior to help them defeat him. Federation wins.

So there's a guy, some seashells and automated swearing fine boxes. And the only music on the radio is actually from old commercials.

Not trying to be all that cryptic but it's a film I love and feel everyone should know about it.

A man is unwell and has trouble sleeping. As time goes on we find out why, he has many pets but his passion is making him ill. Until he meets a girl who shows him the way and helps him to find his voice once more.

Not sure if this will be easy or not, either way an amazing film.

i have a feeling this is Pan's Labyrinth?

though that's a film i have and really need to sit down and watch
