No there's 1st 2nd or 3rd, no victories. you either have enough planets or you don't nothing else to it.

It's all relative, Trax.
The game is 2 production cycles / day.

THN is on production cycle 15, that game is on cycle 14. It's not as far advanced as the THN game, but it has progressed further because you get one or two people working together.

Haven't you and Ghostwolf been working together this whole time?

Indeed. But it was a partnership of equals. Both Ghostwolf and I shared almost exactly the same threats on our borders, substituting Bloke for Trax.

I have managed to take exactly how many systems? Meanwhile, xar attacked with some 150 ships, and will go again in an hour or so. Ronin is passing ghost by, attacking with 3-400 ships. So that massive gulf really isn't doing me much good, is it... Meanwhile, you took out temps fairly easy, and when we tried to bite you in the ass, your much more powerful lapdog took up post, effectively hampering any advances on my part.

Considering I've been in combat with you, Tempscire and Trax for much of the last 2 weeks, and still survived, whereas all ghostwolf had to do was present a threat on your western flank, it's not as if he's been doing my dirty work is it, whereas you could crush Trax like a cockroach if you fancied...

[Help, blank posts again.]

I was just saying that it seems like economy is the best thing to invest in first, then science and/or industry depending on how aggressive the space you're in is and how easy it is to expand. If you're in a quiet area I'd think Economy, Industry, then Science is the best bet, as you can catch up on Science quite quickly when you're rich.

Generally, I'd agree with this. Economy isn't the best choice when you're surrounded by enemies though. I feel I did what I had to to survive, which in this case was follow a path of science and industry early. This gave me the ships to survive against the myriad threats, and something worth trading to other people to keep up a tech advantage - Hyper weaponary!

...You do know that there's no allied victory, right?

Depends if you've seen our email treaty...

To be fair, me and trax had something like that in mind, but ganging up 4 (if it is a 4-way treaty) vs the rest in this particular game is rather defeating the point of it, isn't it? I mean it's not like there's any kind of challenge to it, really.

I only joined in their alliance because they were the first people to talk to me and I figured that I didn't want to end up being at war with Big D and Ronin at the same time. :p

There hasn't been very much backstabbing like the game promised, I think there's been a small amount with me and Ski and that's it. Maybe with Tempscire too but I can't be sure...

You just didnt notice cos you were only bordered by two people. One of whom you fimrly allied with and one of whom was openly hostile to you. Hard to pull a fast one by any of those parties in that situation.

Probably same with ronin who just had two openly hostile races at both ends. It was much more prominenet for me because i had 4 to negociate with.

I just stumbled into a war with Big D, apparently someone told him it would be a good idea to expand south. . . and then went to war with Nanor at the behest of Ronin, then politely stayed neutral in the war between bloke and Ronin, as I had my hands full slowly starving Big D's homeworld.

Wasn't really much room for back-stabbing/intrigue for me, except for Trax acting like an incubus, then inexplicably giving me all his money. :p

You should totally all play Blight of the immortals as it's has less back stabbing in it and would bring us all closer rather then apart... right? Cos we all like each other... right?

I presumed that everyone else had allied against Ronin/Ski/Carps when I joined up with them, and I figured that if I didn't make friends with Ronin he'd eat me up. :p

Ronin's gonna win now, and I'm the only power who's likely to be able to put a dent in him before it's over, but I think I'm happy for the game to end now, what with pretty much everyone else being out!

My opinion of this particular game: not enough people playing to win, instead people were playing to not get destroyed first.

While sometimes your position might necessitate the latter, when it's obvious that one player is going to be stomping all over everyone and still people allow it to happen, I do have to question their motives for playing somewhat :S

I try not to enter these games trying/assuming I'll win because I always end up being crushed, ironically I probably could have this time! :p

Ah well. . . .

Meh. It's just a game. But arguing is fun :)

Aye thats what politics is all about :)

The difference between himself and General Montgomery, General George Patton said in a press interview;. "He seems more concerned about not losing the war that he is about winning it."
