Okay, i got my computer all set up, sound working 'n stuff.

But, when i insert a mic + earphones, it doesnt reconise there is a Microphone in the socket, and the earphones dont recive the sound (whitch continues to broadcast in the speakers.) any advice / help? (I am using Vista, to save time.)

If you go into your sound options, in CP somewhere. If you have more than one possible audio output both will be listed. You will need to select the one you want.

I keep the sound thing on my desktop for ease of switching

Stupid question maybe, but have you got the sound drivers installed?

E.g. my control panel for my laptop and desktop sound cards have their own little managers, rather than just the default windows one. They're the things that pop up / control which signals go where, rather than the default windows drivers for it. I've had problems before where it doesnt properly switch between outputs unless they're installed and ive told them what is where.

I got it sorted the cables for them was cut by the old, old owner. Sorted now. :3
