F2P - (MicroTransaction+AuctionHouse) = Fucking awesome game!
I really enjoyed Planetside, but never got fully into it due to the cost and me being a fairly young Eve player at the time (I have a rule of only 1 mmo sub at a time). Now i'm a bitter veteran of Eve and totally bored with it, i've been looking for a new MMO and Planetside2 (PS2 helpfully enough) is looking to be a good alternative.
I think CCP have got their job cut out for them with Dust514... bit ironic that despite working with Sony to get it brought to consoles Sony are still working on Planetside2 which is a very similar game.

Right, with E3 done Planetside 2 is now within a couple weeks (tops) from the Closed Beta! They have been giving out priority access beta-keys to various website that organize giveaways and perhaps more importantly they have been giving them away on Twitter @planetside2. You can either be super-fast and snag a public one, or attract the attention of their current tweeter with your witty #planetside2 tweet to get a personal key.
I managed to get a key and therefore I shall be in the beta once it rolls out, so I wanted to remind you guys about the game and hopefully organize a THN outfit or just a squad if anyone else gets in
For more information on the game you can check out TotalBiscuit's Youtube channel, he has a lot of Planetside 2 coverage. I'll link one of his more introductory videos below:

I'm pretty sure there's not - I haven't read anything like that anywhere + all of TB's content come from ALPHA, actually and he's allowed to publish it freely + there was a playable and videotapable demo at E3 + they streamed the game for hours and provided VODs...

What's with the comparisons to Halo?
Whatever they are, they're wrong. Planetside is nothing like any variation of halo (thankfully).
Planetside 2 looks/plays like planetside 1 (surprisingly), which was out in 2003.. something I played a lot with my mates back in the day. Very much a fun game, and I liked it a lot more than tribes which I guess would be the nearest contender genre wise (if tribes can be classed an mmofps that is).
If anyone gets a spare beta key I'd be forever in your debt..
