I was going to put up a poll on this subject to see peoples faction alignment but the fact is that people will play the race they played in PS1, i'll be NC, Ronin will be NC, bloke will be Vanu, presumably angelic TR. I highly doubt anyone will want to bend.

Damn straight!

:)

But hey, it's just a game! I'd be very interested in running some organized raids and shit with you lot, so I'm open to rolling with whatever we decide on, I suppose :) Being part of an outfit with THNers in it > bing part of the only respectable faction ;)

Well, I admit that I'm dyed permanently blue and yellow (NC) and I may even be able to rope Rojaws in for the occasional MAX foray. She always used to defend the main base hack point when my squad were roving for defence. AP-fitted MAX from the NC was lethal in close quarters.

That said, I imagine we'll have options to play together too. I anticipate there being different servers and, if so, we'll be able to distribute different characters across them. Also, there's didn't used to be a lot of disadvantage to having low battle rank characters out with high rank ones as long as everyone could coordinate.

So, if you still happen to have your old PS1 account, try logging in and catching the devs online. You'll get keys.

When you say "catching the devs online", where abouts do you mean?

I've dug up my old Sony Station account and verified it and such and it's still got my old PS1 subscription information attached, so in theory I should be good to go...

Sounds like a plan, we'll have an NC outfit on one server and a VS outfit on another.

I don't get it? Is this like a First-person WoW? Or rather like battlefield with unlock and stuff? ... I'm confused

Its like battlefield but with 666v666v666 instead of 32v32 and technically speaking its 2000v2000v2000 per server.

EDIT: And that's the "Logged On" population.

Mind watchinug the vids before asking? :)
Basically it's what Killer said, without quests, with more vehicles thyt are also faction-specific, more visual customization, and most importantly HUGE maps AND persistent battles that don't end like in BF3, but go on and on and on. Also, capturable points, base defenses etc.

I watched the vids. But most of what I saw looked like battlefield but every text said it was an mmo. Thats why i asked ;)

Seems interesting though. Don't know wether I'd pay a monthly fee but if its a one time purchase I'll definetly get it.

It's F2P, but with micro-payments for stuff that doesn't come under "pay to win" (e.g. different camo colours but not different guns).

Which seems awesome. I think I'll join up with you guys then.

The New Conglomerate are clearly your faction of choice, dont want to be no stinkin Terrans.

PS1:
To elaborate slightly on what angelic said about faction specific gear, the gear in question generally fills the same battlefield role, for example, there is a 1 man tank that all factions can use, but the 2 man mainbattle tank so to speak is different across each faction, and as such defines the playstyle.

So if there is a faction specific item, there is no all faction item for the same function.

[strike]
Magrider - VS 2 man, Drivers gun cannot turn only shoot up/down, driver turns with mouse like aircraft(hovertank), i do not recall if the main gunner has 360 arc.

Vanguard - NC 2 man, Driver has no weapon, gunner has turret that shoots small or large projectiles.
[/strike]

Ah, found this, pay attention to the "empire" stat if you look at this.

The same is true for Light/med/heavy assault, in heavy assault each empire unlocks a different gun in a different role (eg, chaingun, shotgun, Helpme bloke!).

But if I got this correctly I don't have much choice anyway. Either I join you guys, or I join another faction and kill you so hard you're gonna ban me on the forums :P

Its like battlefield .

It's nothing like battlefield and thank fuck for that :p

Getting the jump on someone won't autowin your battles in this one. Nor will camping help players in any way, shape or form (quite the opposite actually).

It *is* about teamplay though. I'm hoping my old crew are all gonna hop on board. We usually did pretty well, or if we got bored, went to some random empty zone to race vehicles. :D

Maybe it is worth making a poll to find out the largest faction alignment - To convince new THNers to join it :p

To be honest there's a reason my friends and I went vanu; they were the underdogs. In PS it was always more fun to play the underdogs, you got a real sense of victory for turning the tables.

As for why they were the underdogs, I can't quite remember. Maybe it was worse equipments, or something to do with faction population. Or it was possibly because I was on that side. ;p
