Eurogamer reports that SOE are planning the PS2 beta to start Monday or Tuesday next week:

SOE boss John Smedley took to Twitter to explain further.

"THE BETA WILL START NEXT MON OR TUESDAY BARRING ANY UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES," he shouted.

There's literally hours of gameplay footage out there, for crying out loud. The Biscuit has done a number of PS2 vids, all of which are gameplay only (with commentary etc).

Also, beta starts monday/tuesday.

The quote was too i'm sure. I'll cant accept that code monitoring is the best non invasive way to detect cheating. Nor why cheat programs cannot just intercept the outgoing punkbuster exchanges and replace them. Thus invalidating the whole progam.

being so much of a pain in the arse that you do not want to play at all is a pretty good anti-cheat method.

seems my problem was having AutoHotKey installed, even though I don't use it to cheat... it also decided that I still had it installed after i had uninstalled it, but seems to have maybe sorted itself out...
