We might even be able to make an awesome moose logo if we pick that one :p

Having used both a GHWT drumkit and an RB2 one, I'll have to recommend the RB2 kit. It's got the same benefits (quieter, more springy) and the layout just makes more sense.

Do you have the premium one or the standard one?

For some reason the internet is being crap and I can't find any comparison images....

Can you write up a more in-depth comparison of the two?

I'm holding my Christmas money for Rock Band 2 with instruments (unless that money gets eaten by moving house). I didn't get any instruments for RB1 but I've been hankering after the drumkit for some time...

The "standard" one, without cymbal attachments. I still maintain that the "premium" kit is a giant waste of money.

I'm not sure it's worth a more in depth writeup, but here's how I see it: the RB2 kit is just an RB1 kit that's had all the kinks worked out. It's got nicer (velocity sensitive) pads, a reinforced pedal, and it's now wireless. It's also got connections on the back for cymbals that you can buy, and a mystery connector that Harmonix says they'll announced the use for soon

The GHWT kit looks more like a mini v-drum set, but it simply doesn't play as nice. Having two colours bound to cymbals actually makes the kit much less dynamic. Also, I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE the pedal.

Can you all please just keep this quiet? I want RB2 baaad but can't afford it :(
You'll also want to consider injury cost :p So far I've managed to wreck my knee and now, last night, my wrist. *grumbles about games that make you move your limbs*

That's a very good idea, as the RB2 guitar is absolutely incredible as well.

So, how does this thing actually work? Does one person buy ALL the shite, or do people usually bring their own instruments? When you have only the PS/Xbox/whatever + one instrument (yours) can you play at all? And how "realistic" are they instruments? From what you said about the drum-kit it seems pretty much like a regular virtual drum-kit set, which is good. But what about the guitar or bass?

Well, I have lots of money and moochy friends, so I just bought the whole kit. It would really depend on your situation, but splitting it with housemates or the like seems like a great idea to me.

The other thing is that the pricing structure is uh... different.... in places that aren't North America. There's some discussion about it starting around page 3 of the RB1 thread, someone not me would have to recommend the best way to go about buying it.

Moving on... Yes, you have a bunch of options for playing single player, a few competitive game modes for two players, and then a few different ways to play as a 2-4 player band.

If you're looking for something realistic, your best bet is real instruments. :p They are games, plain and simple.
