The first draft is done!

Sent a copy over to Haven for him to peruse, once he gets back to me on how the confidentiality stuff looks I'll figure out how I'll post copies of the draft to people who took part. :)

Okay! Update time!

Looks like everyone in positions of authority is happy with confidentiality, anonymity etc. so I can now offer the chance to people who've taken part in the project the chance to have a look at my current draft and send me some comments.

If you'd like to do that please send me a PM and I'll give you a link or something to the current draft.

Dreaded triple-posting, sorry guys.

Just to let you know that I'm done!

Just uploaded the finished version of the dissertation and will be going to get my physical copy printed and bound tomorrow.

I'm thinking, if it's alright with people, that I'll post up a link to the dissertation in the thread for people to download a copy, presuming you are all happy for the general forum population to have a copy?

I also have some friends/family who would like the chance to see the paper, but I'm not planning on releasing it to them unless y'all are okay with that. Of course, if they wanted to see it I'd make it clear that they're not to spread it around, even though I doubt you'd be identifiable to them. :)

Huzzah! I'll assume it's fine with most people if they don't get back to me otherwise in like a week or so. :p

Here's a question, no doubt you are referring to specific cases by some special username in your study, will it be possible for us to know what you are referring to us as? i.e. Can you tell me what you refer to me as in your document, assuming that you even refer to me at all? (or is that all super sekrit)

Oh yeah, if you want to know what random username I've used for you I'm more than happy to tell you (just catch me on steam and I'll look it up)! I made them up for everyone, even people I didn't cite, heck, I can't even remember which people I cited because of the random usernames. :p

Oh yeah, I'm going to be deleting all the data I gathered on y'all this Friday, probably, which means that if you want to know your randomised names you'll have to poke me before then, as I will forget. :p

Posting a link would be fine by me. Drop me a note what my username was, in case I can't guess, please. :)

Also, good job!

Hope you guys enjoy it. :)

Drpepperraven!

Interesting read (not enough graphs for my liking!).

Was particularly interesting to see what someone produces in something other than the Natural Sciences.

Could you qualify what you mean when you use the term 'data', and how you sort and manipulate it? Just kind of interesting, as I'm someone who deals with mostly quantitative data, but with some qualitative (mostly observational) stuff too.

P.S. I think I fell in love with the handle 'Drpepperraven'. No idea about the woman who's actual handle is protected by this one (I'm sure she's very nice), but 'Drpepperraven', it rolls off the tongue in a staccato, yet fluid manner, and visually draws my eye across it like drawing a line in the sand. Plus I love Dr. Pepper, and quite like ravens.

Ahem...

I'll be in my bunk.

Aye, no graphs in a qualitative dissertation, wouldn't have been enough people to make them mean anything!

Data, in a qualitative sense is kind of interesting, it's basically what I get from my interviews and observations, we talk about how you specifically "create" data, when you're interviewing people or observing them there isn't anything that's naturally "there" so to speak, so what you get out of it is something that you've created, the data. If that makes sense. . . .

Yeah, the random username generator was pretty awesome. :D

Ah bugger. Been offline for awhile and didn't get a chance to get my random username. I'll have to guess. ;D Although, being the youngest respondent / same age as the youngest respondent ftw? :P

I'm sure there's something you could infer from that! I might have used you, but I honestly can't remember anymore! I guess that shows how anonymous it was if I can't remember who's who, except for one or two. . . memorable names.
