Ahey, :)

As for star wars, KOTOR I and II were one of the few star wars games that didn't totally suck, the others being the x wing and tie fighter series, the dark forces series, and rare gems like podracer.

Wait, didn't you just list pretty much every Star Wars game? What am I missing?

Cheers,
J.

Edit: Well, there was Galaxies as well, but most people I know thought that was pretty decent...

Hahahahaha, nowhere near.

Just looking down that list I feel like an abused wife, thinking about how many of them I played and how many of them were plausibly carcinogenic.

The old arcade cabinet game was good though! Wasn't it!

Trying to get images of Nanor swaying to that game out of my head now........

OTOH, in the polls you try to avoid selection bias, yes? whereas with xfire it's the people who've chosen to download it, which gives you a non-random = non-representative selection.

I thought xfire worked with any game?

Have they changed something?

Does xfire only work on downloaded games now?

He means its not a random selection of people being polled. But rather a selection of people who are not random at all because they chose to install xfire.

I dont completely agree, because in times gone past xfire was very mainstream, personally its more a sample of xfire users who chose not to stop using it, i mean a fall from what was it(?) 2.2m concurrent users down to ~100,000 - thats a big drop, which iirc has been over the last 8 years.

Well we've seen a huge shift towards games with, or even gaming services with, built in community aspects, friends lists and forumy stuff.

Just did my daily check of xfire stats for MMO's

- World of Warcraft (35.4%)
♦ Guild Wars 2 (6.1%)
♦ Star Wars: The Old Republic (5.2%)
♦ Aion (4.6%)
♦ Tera Online (3.6%)
♦ Eve Online (3.4%)
♦ Metin 2 (3.1%)
♦ Supreme Destiny (2.8%)
♦ The Lord of the Rings Online (2.4%)
♦ Other (33.4%)

This is the first time since release SWTOR has dropped to below 2nd place. Though still ahead of Aion and Eve, I can see the decline continue as people continue to drop their subscriptions.

Only because it's a GW2 beta weekend. Stats will be a little skewed.

And stop using xfire, for the last month i have had it off for the longest period since i got it in 2004-5. Its a shame, and i am sure much of its downfall is down to steam, still I like it, but with 2 people on my friends list, and only playing 1 game occasionally, left me with no further use for it.

I haven't used xfire since early 2009, but I still view the xfire stats pages giving statistical data about what games xfire users play.

A debate has already taken place on the validity of the xfire stats on this thread. :)
