Led Zeppelin were definatley not heavy metal, they were more rock and roll. Anyway I would say that Led Zeppelin have to be one of the best rock bands of all time. Queen were also good although there array of songs are very varied (as are a lot of rock bands at that time).

Perhaps the Foo Fighters aswell.

Bah I like The Darkness. I'm not a big fan of the older rock groups. I'm not saying that they're bad or anything; I do listen to them, I just don't listen to them as much as I do to other styles of music.

The darkness were great with their over-the-top glamrock spoof act - but that's exactly their weakness, it's all i've seem them do so far. I liked one way ticket to hell and back a whole lot less. They'll have to find an original and longer lasting identity of their own.

I wouldn't label them a rockband - yet.

Anyway, if you mention queen and glamrock you'd have to consider bands like Van Halen, ACDC, Kiss, and the two dozen others i can't remember off the back of my head.

I'd say the main problem here is that Rock music is so diverse, between bands but also within, and the borders between rock, its subgenres and neighboring genres (metal..) are fuzzy and subject to personal interpretations. It's an endless debate really.

Ohhh yea.. The Foo fighters kick ass as well but me not knowing is exactly why it can't be good. As I'm all knowing... Nah i know nothing when it comes to music. But the reason I said mainly because I don't know is because it is sort of my poll... And so I'm not going to add in a band I've never heard off...

I've recently "acquired" two albums from Monster Magnet, Dopes to Infinity and Powertrip. I already own God Says No, but these two are just so much better.

Very rock, tad slow, tad bombastic, very very good.

Best guitarist ever is another one of those things you can't possibly agree on... Personally Jimi Hendrix feels too soft to be rock. I still like it though.

HEH. I think the mullet is probably the best "do" for a rock star and yes, the hair style is important. But, you ain't going to be watching him live evrytime you hear the song, are you?
