Yo Yo Yo b-boy snake dogg g,
Well, it's time for me to make the official post on the future of where raiding will go for The Haven but before that it's time for a little reflection. Back at the start of wrath we were doing 25 man's successfully with usually only two people coming in form outside to make up numbers. Naxx 25 was successfully on farm and everything was looking peachy. Then people got upset. The people I needed to get in in order to do these raids tore the guild apart due to selfishness, impatience and non-understanding on the parts of a lot of people. What happened then was a mass exodus of about ten important raiding people who were with us during the golden age of raiding in TBC away from our numbers and as a result we were unable to do 25 mans anymore. This was a sad day and the bottom line is that I got the blame for all us this. I kept it all to myself and tried never to show how much I was hurt by the way a lot of people turned on me but the truth is I was close to quitting the game when my exams came up but there were a few people (around 10) who kept me going. I don't want to thank you all, lest I turn this into a Kate Winslet acceptance speech, but thanks very much to Midge, Razaak and Zooggy.
Anyway, raiding kept going doing a ten man a week, Ulduar came out and we got a few new people in by word of mouth alone and the numbers required we start to do 2x10 man groups where for the longest time one wouldn't get very far in Uld and the other would go to Naxx and feel very bitter towards those in Uld even though they needed the gear. Again, a case of people being a bit lazy and selfish. I had the long term plan of two succesful groups of 2x Uld10 by the end of September and I feel in general this has been achieved even though something usually unlucky happens to one of the groups but the point is it could be done. This wasn't arrived at succesfully as I had to once again set about a way to fix our raiding. I decided, as you all know, to take three weeks out of the raiding calander to make it so that that I, and at least 9 of our best people knew how to do Ulduar. The result was that we cleared everything in the first week except Yoggy and were able to repeat the feat once more. This is now what we do every week. Again I took a lot of flak here again from certain people who were being lazy and selfish and felt they were better than they were and that venture wasn't necessary. However, I think I have now proved it was and earned the trust of most of those people.
The same thing happened when ToC came out. I waited a few weeks as I wanted to focus on Ulduar which, again was necessary but I got pestered by everyone, the main argument being "Well Ashen Order has done it...". So we went in and destroyed the first two bosses and people gave up when the third encounter was difficult. So once again I "still unpopularly" took a select group of ten people to do the faction champions and, look what happened, we got them and the next two bosses down first night. Now, two of our groups faceroll this place on a weekly basis and the time had come to return to 25 man raiding.
Now, I had hoped to get one this week but just didn't have the numbers and we had to put people onto alts to fill spaces and wouldn't have the members to do it. So we can keep trying to get it every week but the point is that we need the numbers. Now as I mentioned before last time we got new people in it caused problems I want to aim to avoid that but we need at least one more main-specced tank and about 4 main-specced healers and 2 or 3 main specced DPS. We are going to be recruiting through the official forums and through trade chat every now and again to get these people but if you know someone that fills the cap...get them in.
So the long term goal now is to get the 25man groups going by the end of January but hopefully beforehand depending on how well recruitment goes. I also want to point out we will be starting with Naxxramas when we do this as not everyone seems to remember/know the difficulty jump and as a method to help us with this issue I have recruited a new officer who will be my official second in command. His main duites will be helping those of you who are under performing to achieve your full potential however, do no expect him to be all nice about it. He will be more like a drill sergeant than a matron and this alone should make you want to do better before he makes you do better. He will argue your guesswork with mathematically proven fact and put you down hard if you resist. I should stress that this doesn't always mean doing more damage, but sometime raid utility. For example, the demonology warlocks crit buff, the unholy DK's spell damage buff and the arms warriors bleed debuffs, which are all needed in 25 man. However, do not think for one second that if you play one of these classes you get to fall into this nice to do subpar damage, this is not on, you will be useful and at the end of the day that is what both we, the raid, and you, the player, should strive for and want.
As a side note in 25 mans there will be no loot system. I have being doing it in ten mans recently and we used to do it in our 25 mans. where loot is distributed evenly across people who can use it to gear up the raid better and special cases will be given to regular attenders and my decision will be final when this happens. Again, this is for the benefit of the raid not people and it encourages people to run dungeons to gear themselves up not wait for raid drops and qq that your gear is worse because you haven't put the effort in.
Anyone, you have been/notified warned and I'll be happy to address anything you may have to say here as long as people do not turn this thread into a flame war as has happened with the ones before. I WILL delete posts who do this. Also the game.
Cheers,
