The THN Banner

Ok. So i've started thinking about LAN and Clanboxes again (Otherwise known as i'm bored at work waiting for a 2gb checkin to svn).

Whilst being bored at work I have noticed that we have a banner printer, for some reason this made me think of the clanbox. I am proposing that this year for I-Series we should have a big THN banner up on the walls and possibly outside. If this proves to be successful we could then convert this into a proper vinyl banner sometime in the future.

So where do you all come in...
In short, I suck at photoshop and certainly have no artistic talent. So what I am looking for is a banner which is distinctly THN and also distinctly I-Series. As such I have a list of things of which some/all should be incorporated into the design
  • The THN Tree
  • The THN Logo
  • A GIANT Egg
  • Fizzy Fish
  • Fizzy Gloves
  • NERF
  • Rock Band
  • BBQ

I am open to any further suggestions or interpretations from other i-series goers or artists who are interested.

I'll try and determine the physical dimensions of our banner printer for an update, but it's about 3ft tall by as long as you wish!

I'm not sure that THN has a logo, other than the tree with various fonts of [THN] written over it (I think Telemarines was one I used most recently). That said, I may have the various masters for all the banners I've produced around somewhere so if people need those then give a shout.

Also, I have no idea what all this fizzy fish/gloves is about so maybe not such an ubiquitous iSeries thing...? :) (Though I imagine everyone knows about the egg of unusual size.)

That said, I heartily approve of putting a THN banner up. I'd request it contained a pointer to the forums (games.thehavennet.org.uk) but that's purely from a practical note of potentially attracting more members also interested in the same things we are (games/computers/community).

hehehe you had to be there at the last LAN, to know what that's about, but the more regular LAN attendees will know what it's all aboot :D

Gawd, people and sleeping at a LAN!

We've had fizzy gloves/fish since the summer LAN, and it's now a regular late-night special!

As everyone knows, greatest TF2 is melee only TF2. We have taken at the last 2 LANs to playing this late at night when either drunk or just wanting to be as rowdy as possible. The fizzy gloves relate to the KGB (Heavies unlock melee) that go all sparkly when they get a kill and then crit on hit. The cry of Fizzy gloves goes up and the opponent knows to back off and the team with the heavy PUSH :D.

Fizzy fish is a natural extension of this with the scouts mackerel as a hilarious counter to the heavy as it does little damage but a good scout taking down a heavy with it having drank the crit-a-cola.

Both very much part of the THN LAN tradition now :D.

The first time someone yelled, "FIZZY GLOVES" I started singing it to the tune of "Physical", the song Vel linked. This is now the standard cry when someone gets fizzy gloves :p

So yeah, I totally forgot to post in this thread when I originally saw it. Turns out I know a guy who runs a banner and poster printing business, called eCanvas Ltd. (it's website is currently "under construction" though...), so feel free to poke me to get a price for you if you want as I can pick it up for you guys, and then I'm sure Vibs or someone can drive past and pick it up from me!

No pressure to use this, but the option is there if people want.
