@ Thatbloke, I think the best time for the match should be this weekend and as luck would have it, the Bloodthirster and Snottlings are going to the Beast of Nurgle’s house for the weekend. Which makes me a free man able to play almost any time (although please keep in mind im GMT+9).

I’ve only played a Nurgle vs Underworld match once before and it was a really tough one. Disturbing presence removes the option for me to toss a Goblin, whilst your lack of block/tackle makes it hard to take down my runty Gobs. Then again, the Beast of Nurgle can really tie up a lot of the Gobs and Rats, neutralising them.

Should be an interesting one.

So, Trax, when's good for our dodge-happy game?

I can't do Tuesday or Thursday unless it's very late. Wednesday, Friday late, or any time in the day on Saturday or Sunday can work for me.
I'm back from Paris Thursday evening. So the weekend I guess.

Saturday is a good time for me, when's good for you?

Ghostwolf and I started off week two with a resounding thump. 2-0 to the Scarpeak Ravangers.

I had an MNG vamp, leaving an already tough matchup even tougher, and it didn't help that my level 2 vamp went off KOd midway through the first half and never returned. Despite an injury caused on a beastman by tactical fouling, I had a distinct palyer disadvantage, and ghostwolf made his players count, looking very comfortable throughout on his way to a 1-0 lead at the half. I received before the half and managed a pass to level a vamp. Second half I had very few players, and despite a cheeky blitz breakthrough with a vamp, to receive a pass, ghostwolf had no problems putting him down and taking the ball from him, and rumbled back down for a defensive TD.

I chucked the ball around a bit more in an effort to generate SPP which paid off when I managed to get the MVP on a vamp who also levelled.

Brutal loss on the pitch, but came away without any injuries, and with a team sporting 2 dodge vamps and a S5 vamp, so not a total waste.

Wow, a strength 5 Vamp. I'm glad i have already played against you. That would be 1 tough player to take down!

I know right? I've had a particularly lucky run of rolling strength ups.

I rolled 2 on that lineman on the Pants, I got one on a saurus on my CTA team I'm cultivating, and I also got one on a lineman on a spare human team I was messing around with in friendlies.

I just had an uber fun match vs thatbloke. As he said at the end, it was very much a tail of 2 halves. I wont spoil it by posting the result due to my intoxicated state. I will leave that to Thatbloke. :p

Well it seems I have two matches to report on. I'll report on the one just played against Narly though first.

Before the game, I'd lost two rotters from the previous week, but decided to use the winnings I'd made to get a 4th Pestigor instead. So I had just 11 players.

I ended up kicking off to start and the way the kickoff went entirely summed up what was to happen in the first half...

Despite selecting somewhere in the middle of Narly's end my kick not only went exceptionally wide to the left, landing next to the touchline, but it additionally didn't even cross the halfway line. So he was able to simply give the ball to his rearmost thrower.

I was then on the back foot instantly as Narly was able to smash down the entirety of my right flank and part of my centre line, and in addition keep them down and out of the way, leaving me very little cover.

Due to the small amount of cover and the insane amount of yellow dice Narly seemed to be rolling, he was able to roll the ball over the line for a TD in (I think) turn 4.

1-0 to Narly.

I then received, and after a the crowd got a bit rowdy and went for the ref, awarding us both a bribe, the ball landed near one of my rotters.

I then managed to do precisely no damage whatsoever to Narly's line, and then on attempting a pickup, failed horribly. Narly again seemed to have the dice gods smiling upon him, and was able to flatten about half my team, additionally causing a KO on one of my Pestigors.

To cut what was a long, drawn out half (from my point of view!) short, Narly kept at least half my team on the floor consistently so I was unable to do much about him passing the ball down and getting one of his gobbos to score just before half time.

The second half starts and it's 2-0 to Narly. We were joking about how my dice had been so bad and about how my luck MUST be about to turn...

I received the ball and an instant upturn in fortune with my block dice allowed me to knock some of his guys to the floor, and after successfully picking up the ball and moving left-centre with it slightly, was able to make a very large hole on my right (Narly's left) to send a rotter carrying the ball through.

Some frantic defence from Narly saw him get a couple of peeps near the ball carrier but then it seemed that my half time ploy of tying his player's shoelaces together was starting to come to fruition as he then started causing turnovers by failing some dodge rolls. After managing to injure a player and make enough space for my rotter to get through, I scored on turn 12.

2-1 to Narly.

The game then resumed, with Narly receiving. He caused a turnover very early in his first turn after the restart here, again, I think, due to a failed dodge, and this allowed me to instantly put pressure on his line and eventually ended up with a sort of semi-circle formation where the ball was in the top-right as I looked, with every player arrayed on the centre line near the right flank, moving in an arc up the centre, about halfway into Narly's half.

The game then turned into a brawl after Narly's thrower was unable to pick up the ball and I was able to smash my way through and get some pressure on the thrower. A bit of back and forth and a player each being stretchered off (and one of Narly's being red carded) eventually left me in a situation where on my last turn I had the ball on the halfway line, and just had to use my beast of nurgle to move 1 square, push a thrower out of the way, and then I would be able to walk the ball up with the rotter that was carrying it and hand it off to a pestigor who was within range and unmarked to score.

So I initiate the blitz, and for the first time in the match the beast of nurgle fails his stupidity roll (despite the +2 from a nearby teammate).

So then I'm left with needing this rotter to make a single successful dodge with his AG of 3, and make a GFI roll, and then successfully hand-off to the pestigor.

The dice gods were smiling, and I was successful in all of these rolls, and on turn 16 made it 2-2.

Narly then got some beats in on his final turn but was unable to score in a single turn so the game ended 2-2.

All in all, a very fun game, and most definitely "a game of two halves".

Yeah, that was a really enjoyable match. Both my matches this season have had a huge change in luck for both halves. Against Panda i had bad luck in the first and good luck in the second. Against bloke it was the opposite. Both matches great fun though. My block dice were just awesome in the first half against Bloke. It was offensive how good they were!

My Troll was totally useless that game. At 2-1 he just needed to make a 2 dice block and i would then have been able to run some receivers through. But of course he hit himself down. And i think he went stupid 4 or 5 times during that match. So i ask you, how can he have been given the MVP?

I've got my first skilled Gob now. I was going to go claw, but saw that 2 of my remaining opponents are Skaven and Wood elf, for which claw is useless. So i went for horns instead. All shall fear my horny Goblin! :p

Week 2, the Skaven Stormclaws faced off against the Elvish Nitwits. Before the match, Coach-in-Chief Stormclaw of the Stormclaws addressed his team (in Queekish, but translated for your benefit).

"Scum", he said, affectionately, "we've got a stand-in linesman for the rat we lost last week. If in doubt, throw him in the way. Got it?"

All the rats nodded in agreement. Journeymen don't get to eat anyway.

Unfortunately, a rogue wizard had released some sort of intense confusion spell over the stadium that took the kick off and first couple of minutes and turned them inside out.

First, one of the Stormclaws' Gutter Runners turned up late at the back of the pitch. He claimed he got lost in the toilets. Second, the Nitwits somehow didn't hear the whistle and stood around while the Stormclaws got themselves organised; perhaps it was a sense of fail play while they waited for the missing Gutter Runner to make it to the field? Whatever the case, the fans were looking dismayed as the Stormclaws received the ball.

A push up the right flank (eventually) met with Elvish resistance and shortly knock outs were traded on the line, though the Skaven journeymen was the one to take the hit. His fellow Linesmen were heard sniggering as he was dragged off.

Stopped in their tracks, the Stormclaws made good use of their speed to switch to the left flank. The Elves were also quick on their feet and started to pin down the rats, but an ill-advised block left their line weakened critically. Strong maneuvering from a Storm Vermin freed a Gutter Runner to grab the ball and make a dash for the end zone, only to trip on a rock just inches from the line. The Nitwits scrambled to recover, but the Runner managed to pick himself up just in time to bring the score to 1-0.

With just minutes left in the first half, the Nitwits received and pushed aggressively down their left flank. A heroic pass from the back field put the ball in the hands of the Nitwits hero Catcher who leapt over the stunned rats and into the end zone to even the score 1-1 just before half time.

Second half, the Elves received and started maneuvering to clear the rat's line, only to throw another ill advised block and fall flat, leaving a hole for rats to blitz into the backfield and strip the ball with a three rat Gutter Runner attack. An injury either way, the rats put the ball into the end zone for a second score. 2-1.

An understrength Elf team presented a patchy line and the Stormclaws were able to take the ball away from them again and tried a bit of fancy play around the end zone to run down the clock. However, the Elves were able to punch their Wardancer all the way back to get hands on the Gutter Runner, but once again the nimble rat sneaked over the line to put the score 3-1.

The rats were now three down, two to injuries, versus the Elves only two down. With minutes to go, the Elves once again flipped the ball to their hero Catcher who, once again, confounded the Skaven line by leaping over their heads and nimbly skipping into the endzone. 3-2.

Everyone looked around expecting the final whistle, but the referee was adamant that a few seconds remained. The rats received and proceeded to perform a little clown around play in the backfield between a Thrower and a Gutter Runner, where the Storm Vermin and the rest of the line leapt on the Nitwits three Linesmen (everyone else having retreated to the back of the field) and kicked seven shades of snot out of them, sending one to the injury box.

Final whistle, 3-2 to the Stormclaws.
