I've had 3 main names over the years I've been online, the first of which was Pallando152.
The Pallando part came from the blue Wizard of the same name (I was about 11 and had just struggled through the Silmarillion for the first time). The 152 part seemed just to "fit", but at the time I couldn't understand why.
About a year later I realised why the 152 was stuck in my head. My very first "debit" (HSBC Livecash) card had come with the default pin number of 0152. I'd committed the number to memory, but had then changed it when first using a cash machine, so it was just lodged in the back of my head somewhere.
Around the age of 13 I decided I needed a name change, and had just become heavily infatuated with Warhammer40k and the Chaos Space Marine Thousand Sons chapter in particular. I've always liked magic within games, and was drawn to the lore of these guys like a moth to a flame. I loved the story behind the Chief Librarian, Ahriman, and took this as my new handle. (My DP being the symbol of Tzeentch, the chosen Chaos God of the 1k Sons).
Up until the age of 19 I was then Ahriman, Ahriman152 (when Ahriman was taken) or Cpt Ahriman in the case of DoD.
When I was finally convinced to play WoW by Pwnstar I found my name to be taken (by some crummy alliance gnome warlock no less). Needing a new name, and loving the orcs, I Googled an Orcish name generator and sifted through a few pages of standard RP sounding names.
This is where Huung was born. Orc sounding and comical, I was sold instantly. I found these forums via the WoW guys, and thus chose to go with my WoW name of Huung, as I would be easier to identify (not to mention not knowing just how expansive THN was upon joining - waaaay more than just WoW).
I've found "Huung" is very rarely taken on any forum or game, so I don't have to bolt on the old 152 at any point. It's interesting to see what Google finds when you do a search for "ahriman152" - instant leaks to my location/name etc via old social networking sites like Bebo...
