It was a close game, I have no faith at all in the back 4's of any of the african nations, save maybe the ivory coast. In contrast, the japanese are excellent at the back, but lack a cutting edge. The cameroon keeper looks aweful. I was confident in the Japs as my bet and raise indicated.

BTW Big D, thanks for putting this on. It is making the world cup (particularly the group stages) a bit more exciting.

Looking for a paraguay upset now to make me 3 for 3 today. Hint: I think Italy suck.

Well, I don't see Italy doing any more than they have to to secure a win. One of these days it's going to backfire on them, and I reckon it might be tonight. First game of the competition and all that, and Paraguay have heritage (and I guess their players will be able to deal with the altitude more easily).

Paraguay beat both Brazil and Argentina in the qualifiers. Italy are old slow, and as Tets points out, generally don't bring the wood early in tournaments. Ripe for an upset.
