Blood Bowl League 3.3 Week 4

You should have won the match vs me. And I reckon you would have if you had rolled a 3+ (when you sacked my ball carrier and the wolf went in to pick it up). As it was you missed the pickup, i was able to recover and score - taking me 1-0 up.

I think you were also unlucky with the bye-match being on your last week and the admin'd draw that should have been a win. But as you say, at least you invented the Flesh Golem sandwich (which i was unfortunate enough to experience). And your team should be strong for next season.

It seems that the title of division 3 champ will therefore come down to the final match day (between myself, Snap, Panda and Hoverdog). Can i suggest that if snap doesn't make a comeback, i be given an admin'd draw, seeing as Barn was given that and i believe everyone who played Snap drew with him. I think thats the fairest option.

@ Lebe - why did you name one of your Flings JJ? What are the other ones names? And an AG4 Fling is totally awesome. I also got 1 from the last match of last season. It virtually guarantees you a TD (2+ TTM, 3+ landing and maybe a 2+ gfi and your in).

You'll get an admined win if Snap Doesn't turn up. Since promotion and relegation is done manually, I can manipulate it so that barninho has the points he should have from the game. I beat snap 2-0 in the first match of the season, and hoverdog actually got the opportunity to play him too.

I agree that Barninho was unlucky to finish with a bye week, but that's unfortunately one of the downsides to this system. Hopefully he'll start out strong next season.

I actually really like the bye-week system. Sure its a bit of a bummer if you have your bye-week on the final match day, but as you say, it means next season you will start off stronger. It also introduces a bit more randomness into the game. As well as the friendly coaches, it is 1 of the things that attracts me to this league.

Narly... you haven't seen my team then ?! :D

They are all male porn actor names. Team name: "Sausage Wavers". The trees are "Black Power" & "I have a Wood". But since they were doing so badly I decided to throw Jenna Jameson in the mix and it seems to have worked out !

As for TTM should I attempt to throw shorter to be safer ? Never really figured out these numbers... not a single attempt has resulted in sucessful landing when the fling had the ball.

When you throw the "pass" there is a range modifier applied - there are circles that appear on the field showing this, at the longer range you get a -1 to the accuracy of the "pass" thrown into the mix. It only affects the accuracy though, and generally the halfling will go somewhere near where you select unless you roll a 1 on the throw (causing a fumble).

The agility of the halfling is what counts for the landing, and this is, afaik, simply an unmodified AG test. But if you fail with the ball carrier, then that ball carrier will of course drop the ball and cause a turnover.

Remember also that even with a fumble, the halfling still needs to roll to land (even though they will end up on the square they started on).

True story: I've never once managed to throw any player. The trolls and trees always seem to fuck it up.

I have managed it with the gobbos a few times, when it comes off you can score a 1-turn TD, but you need to pass about 4/5 rolls of the dice or something for it to come off (not counting any GFIs).

Dont forget that you shouldn't throw the Halfling/Snottling/Goblin off the pitch either! ;)

Although it is quite amusing! :D

It was quite hilarious.... the other hilarious thing was attempting to throw a snotling at your tree, missing and then nailing one of my own ogres...

Games left this week are (IIRC)

D1:

Traxata vs Ghostwolf
Xarlaxas vs Lucius101 (I had a look at lucius' team last night. Looks proper scary...)

D2:

Huung vs Mogwuai (- They don't seem too keen to play this game, considering it's pretty much the Div decider)

Distance doesn't matter for halflings, since all treemen have strong arm, so it is always a 2+ roll.

However, the landing roll is affected by the number of tacklezone on the square, so if you want the halfling standing you put him where there ain't too many people.

Fond of the bye week system myself and really enjoyed the season. Getting 30k winnings from the first two games annoyed me more, since I didn't realise it was even possible to win 10k. (I agree that it must have happened to me, but presumably always when I've had money already so I didn't notice.)

In another way I've been very lucky though. Regen has been 100% reliable all season, and the only injury that was anything close to a problem was my ghoul in the last game who will be MNG for bye week. That is pretty incredible considering how many hits my players took.

I thought the idea was to hurl them like missiles to break cages? :S

Surely no one worries about using it as a scoring play? :D

Well that is not quite true, we will throw down Saturday afternoon, since I only have weekeds to play atm, due to workschedule
Oh and also, I think it will be a nice crippling Bloodbath for both teams, with deathroller and bribe action (probably).
Just one question is the bribe a guaranteed success or is it 50/50? If so, I might refrain from the lawnmower and find something more "useful" to spend money on like the wizard

Oh mate... you are looking at the man who uses it as a scoring play.

I went through a stage where I basically only played Halfling's and I have scored many one turn touchdowns including two in a 3-2 win against Norse. With flings, what with the Trees having strong arm and no loner, it is never the worst idea in the world to try for it. If the ball lands somewhere nice it becomes very possible. Admittedly I went a little overboard on one turners, they get addictive.

Of course you can also throw them at opposition cages. That's even better sometimes. One time memorably I had a Beast of Nurgle tying up three players and took him off the pitch with a thrown fling.

Also Moguai, the bribe can fail. It's rare, don't have the odds to hand, but definitely a possibility you will get sent off. It can't be 50/50 chance of failing though. The odds are in your favour it will work.

Bribes work on a 2+, from what I remember.

My worst result winnings-way was playing two games with a new team, winning both games and still not being able to buy an apothecary. And that was Matchmaking, so rerolls worked. I won 30k, rerolled to 20k both times. (I.e. roll a 2, reroll to 1)

I officially quit this season, my team is now pointless and there's no point me playing the remaining games just to get pounded on. I might have some luck in division 2, or I might change team and drop right to the bottom, I'll decide when I've calmed down from the computer crappy "random numbers"

3-1 to Team Fanservice and two of lucius rats were left quite dead 14 turns in, which is when lucius quit the match.

I've heard pretty scary things about Skaven teams, and I remember the mutations being pretty funky, but the rats die as easily as the other squishy races it seems. . . .

Probably would have been easier for Panda had you toughed it out for the last two turns rather than quitting the match though.

Lucius, I know how you feel. I got slaughtered last season playing my WElves in D1. Didn't win a single match and basically just prayed for as few deaths as possible. Playing with AV7 teams at high TVs is tough stuff. Just stick it out and reroll something bashy next season!

Moguai: As much as I'd like to try and dissuade you from taking the deathroller and bribes, bloke is correct about them working on a 2+. With the amount of inducements you'll get against me, you could keep the roller on the pitch the whole game, and still have enough for a wizard >.<
